Bagatsing urges employees to work harder, efficiently

01:28 PM February 24, 2011

MAYOR Ramon D. Bagatsing yesterday, rallying City Hall officials and employees behind the new government, appealed to them to carry on with their normal functions and continue serving Manilans.

The mayor’s move was consistent with his stand defined when the outcome of the crisis was still uncertain to throw his support to then “rebel” forces.

Mayor Bagatsing met with department heads and chiefs of office of the city government this noon and exhorted them to work “with even greater efficiency and dedication.”

Responding to the mayor’s plea, City Engineer Romulo M. del Rosario, president of DEHECHO (organization of City Hall’s Chiefs of Offices), pledged their determination to serve faithfully and well the new government.

Taking cue from President Aquino’s appeal for the people to pay their taxes, Mayor Bagatsing directed City Treasurer Anthony Y. Acevedo to intensify collection of revenues.

He also ordered that the street improvement program be implemented to insure the repair and asphalting of all city streets.

All infrastructure projects, the mayor ordered, should be completed including the rehabilitation of the city slaughterhouse.

City Hall held back the transmittal of the P7 million monthly contribution of the city to the MNC.

City authorities did not know to whom the check was to be handed in and decided to keep it with Acevedo until further notice.

This period being cedula season, the mayor asked that the collection of revenue from this source be intensified.
