Save the Children Race for Survival
Save the Children, the leading independent organization for children and its partners, will hold the Race for Survival, the world’s biggest children’s race, on Wednesday, October 16, at the Ynares Sports Complex in Antipolo, Rizal.
Political and showiz personalities will attend the 7 a.m. event, among them, actor Dingdong Dantes, chairman of the YesPinoy Foundation; Benigno Aquino IV, entrepreneur and senatorial candidate; Leon Flores, chairman of the National Youth Commission (NYC); Representative BH Herrera-Dy, Bagong Henerasyon partylist representative; and Rizal Governor Jun-Jun Ynares.
Anna Lindenfors, country director of Save the Children in the Philippines, will also participate in the 42-kilometer relay marathon where more than 20,000 children in over 40 countries around the world will pass the baton on the same day to urge world leaders and their governments to act fast in saving children’s lives.
The objective of this race is to raise awareness, support and commitment to help get the world on track to achieve MDG 4 and substantially reduce the numbers of young children who die every year due to preventable causes such as diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria, and malnutrition.
