Erap just dont get it. He is the problem and not the
economy. Is he trying to be blind, pretending not to see
the real problem? Well - he better have anoeye surgery

be brighter in his right mind- which meant, he have to go-
resign.
**@yahoo.com (john)
I think that he should quit while he is
ahead of the game. He will get to keep
all his mansions, utility vehicles
and women. He will also be viewed as a
hero by his supporters for not letting
the peso sink to 88 to a dollar when he
leaves Malacanang.
**@lycos.com (Cecilia )
Erap should resign and resign he must now.
This man maybe thinks he's still on camera
and that he's playing a bida na inaapi and
will later on triumph. Get real, man!
Rallies and demos should go on until Erap
resigns. Members of his cabinet should also
resign. As one statesman said it, which should
also be taken into hearts by cabinet members
and legislators affiliated to majority party,
"...loyalty to the party ends when loyalty to
the people begins..." I hope these guys will
take into highest considerations the plight of
the nation and not the plight of one person or
his entire families. They should be man enough
to let Erap see his faults and the harm he has
done to the country.
Sen. Miriam Santiago for all her brains and
smartness should stop all her delaying tactics
on the impeachment proceedings against her
benefactor, Erap. We know she's intelliegent
and she's got all the credentials in the world
to prove her expertise in the law. She simply
stinks with what she's doing in behalf of Erap.
She's not elected to her position to be his
lawyer. She's there for the people but look
what she's doing now? What a shame for someone
who WAS a graftbuster for the people and now a
grafter's amiga and defender.
note : I'm writing from Seoul, Korea where I'm
working. The Filipinos OCWs and TNTs here are
going to have a signature drive for Erap's resignation.
Majority wants him out. We know how bad the economic
situation there is~that's exactly the reason why we
left to work here. Erap has betrayed the people.
He should resign.

The President has once again affirmed his showbiz
roots.Instead of taking the bull by the horns and tackling
the enermous problems he has head on, he has resorted to
giving inconsequential speeches which are at best
superficial and cosmetic. While face powders did the trick
in concealing any blemishes he had during his "acting"
days, he must not think that he can reverse the tide of
malcontent that is sweeping the nation by giving token
concessions to the people.moreover,he should not think that
he can continue insulting the logic and intellect of the
filipino people because these so-called concessions were
promises he has continuously made and broken during his
tenure in office.in a distorted way, it's like marie
antoinette giving cake to an impoverished people.
while mr. estrada has tenaciously clung to his post
invoking the constitution,he has to bear in mind that the
voice of the people is the voice of god.vox populi vox dei.
already, a great number of so called public servants in the
two house of congress have manifested their loyalty and
adulation to the present tenant in malacanang by their
eagerness to subvert the impeachment process in the lower
house and the harrassment of "hostile" witnesses in the
senate.
the president should not entertain any delusions about the
people honoring and respecting any acquttal he gets from
the impeachment proceedings in Congress.

The Estrada Oct 30 reform is one of the last sad ploy to
hoodwink the Filipino people from throwing him out of
office. The Estrada administration has lost its credibility
in the international world and no state leader would dare to
have their picture taken with him in any of international
functions nor even be associated with him. The AFP
military should wake up and must not use the rationale that
"we'll he is less corrupt than the previous administrations
so we have to throw our support on him." Organized
corruption from the executive branch must be stopped,
dismantled and prosecuted.
**@wcom.com (Eduardo)
What reform Erap is talking about? He is appealing for
another chance to enjoy governing the country. In the first
place, why he is asking for that?Is he guilty? Face the
people Erap and don't let the House of Rep. to decide on
your impeachment because we, the people know very well that
your men in the House will only make mockery of the
proceedings. Erap, please don't insult the intelligence of
the people. Although your men in the senate and in the

All of us think that we are better than the President. We

trying to topple each other down. WE do still have that
"crab-like" mentality. We still have greed in ourselves.
Instead of going out to the streets protesting, why don't
we PRAY for peace and prosperity? We only pray for
ourselves, don't we? We pray for power and more money for
ourselves. We pray that no harm will come to us but we love
to see chaos in our streets..Let's unite once and for all.
Let us pray that our Leaders will be guided in a right way

If President Estrada sincerely wants to put the country and
the people's interest over and above everything else he
will have to swallow his pride and appoint someone who has
the experience and credibility to be his Executive Officer,
who will report to him directly and who must be given a free

I was of the opinion that what was missing from the crisis
was humour and that the gravity of the situation was
creating a tragedy aleviated only by the humour of FVR when
the chief actor adroitly turned tragedy into farce.
The first act by the ham actor obviously reading his (
badly scripted ) lines was aumented by the second and third
acts of a parody of the muppet show where the puppets had
been instructed where to sit but no further instructions
has been given. Pyuppet masters had benn giuven lines ( who
on earth wrote them ? ) but again no further instrctions had
been given.
Did no one find it funny ?
Seriously though, one of the most important weapons
available has not been used, so far, and that is the very
effective weaponn of satire. Apart from FVR Is no one
aware of the actor who was laughed off stage ?
Two quotations of Shakespeare come to mind
" A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury ,
signifying nothing"
" All the world's a stage and all the men and woman merely
players, They strut and fret their hour upon the stage and
then are heard no more "

This reform program does not answer the charges against
him. It will not also bring back the confidence that was
accorded to him earlier by the Filipinos. What is very
significant with this program, however, is the objects of
reform were the areas that Erap is heavily engaged with in
illegal and criminal activities: smuggling, cronysm,
nepotism, corruption and tax evasion. The program was a
manifestation of the acceptance of all the charges against.
This program is a desperate move by people that control the
President. One of them is the Chinese Triads which have used
and influenced the "First Families" to engage through
bribery and corruption in criminal activies- smuggling,
money laundering, gambling,& human trafficking. The Chines
Triad will do all things necessary to save the President,
even a "class war".

His lies are unquestionable, how can he claim

Obviously his extended family is draining
our finances, are they assigned extra presidential
guards, cars, vallets, etc. How can you
trust a man who fooled his very own wife
not only once but several times. I think
he has promised not to do it again 100 times.
In his mind, if I can get away from my wife
who is virtually beside me all the time,
it is easier to fool the Filipino people
to whom I can hide easily.

No thinking individual can deny Erap's
involvement in the jueteng scandal
because of the following reasons:
1.Gov. Chavit Singson was a key player,
along with Erap, Atong Ang & Bong Pineda
in the jueteng operations; he was not
just an eyewitness;
2.his narration of the sequence of
events, dates, names & places all make
sense;
3.he knew his life would be in serious
danger by exposing the most powerful
man in the country.
I hope those who blindly believe Erap's
pronunciation "na malinis ang kanyang
konsiyensa" will use their God-given
faculty of thought. Hindi kailangan na
maging mayaman o elitista,o college
graduate kayo para marating ninyo ang
ganitong conclusyon: gamitin ninyo

**@tm.net.my (Emmanuel)
Mr. Ejercito's offer of reforms reminds me of the old adage
"Aanhin pa ang damo pag patay na ang kabayo?". Mr. Ejercito
has to go, one way or the other, because it was he who beat
the proverbial "kabayo" to death by witholding the "damo"
he now offers, as well as other "damo" that he should have
offered earlier.
But his departure would only be part of the solution.
Corruption is so ingrained in our political system that
even those at the lowest levels, i.e. barangay captains and
councillors, act as if the people they are sworn to serve
should be beholden to them, and not the other way around.
And it gets worse as you work your way up the heirarchy of
our government.
I can't help but think of the Executive and Legislative
branchers of our government as foul-smelling cesspools
filled with different species of venomous snakes,
slithering and striking at whatever morsel they can stuff
into their greedy bellies. That is, morsels that have
escaped the jaws of the bigger vipers. But that might be
insulting the snakes because I'm not sure if they turn on
each other and eat their own kind.
The current crop of self-serving politicians at all levels
has to be replaced with people who are honest and morally
upright, and who truly have the best interest of the
public, and not their own, at heart. Is this ever going to
happen? Call me a pessimist but I don't think so, not in
the near future anyway.
**@netscape.net (Gen)
It's really sad that these things are happening to our
country. But what saddens me more is that the poor is
letting Erap use them to cover up for his mistakes.
Erap has been projecting himself as the champion of the
masses, that he is one of them. Well, obviously, he is not.
Look at the lifestyle of his wives and his children
(legitimate and illegitimate). Just from saying that he is
pro-poor, he is clearly lying! Why can't the masses realize
that?
This is not a battle between the rich and the poor. This is
a battle between those who has common sense against those
who are letting Erap treat them as dummies dumber than him!
Right now, it's really embarrassing to be a Filipino. Our
country is divided by this issue-- divided among the
thinking and its opposite.
Erap is the country"s biggest mistake and i mean big
mistake! Huge!
**@yahoo.com (Robert)
The word "leader" means directing his people and needs
wisdom from above. Erap was voted by the people because of
desperation from "leader-politicians". Unfortunately, Erap
since the beginning has not portrayed true leadership. And
therefore, Erap's reform on October 30 will neither solve
the crisis. With a new leadership, like Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo, the world perception for Philippines will
have a new horizon.

The invitations to Ramos, Cory and Gloria to participate in

I don't think the reform program proposed by our embattled

here "There is no use plugging the holes of the ship, what
is needed is the replacement of the captain".... himself,
as he doesn't know how to steer the nation's ship towards a
safe harbor.
**@stc.com.sa (Ahmed)
The reform which the president is the best process to solve
the crises. Politicains should first set aside any personal
differences & unite to restore our economy & peace & order.
This is not the right time to point fingers. All of those
high profile political figures in the opposition were also
been accused/alleged for corruption and even in Jueting. If
and only if, that the opposition really want to be of
service to the Filipino People and within the stream of the
majority desire , i.e. reduce or eradicate poverty..... the
idea of power sharing & unification is the best approach to
solve the crises. This is now the call of the people, to
unite for a common goal to be off service to the filipino
people not uniting against each other. The President is
just the captain of the ship, most of the functions to move
this ship forward is us the filipinos. But if everyone tries
to move and even encourages civil disobedience, no matter
how big the ship and intellegent the captain, we will sink
and all die, not just the captain but all of us. The offer
for power sharing & unification as far as I remember, is
only done this time, often times appointment are base on
political affiliation. This is the right venue to prove
your effectivity in helping the filipino through your
services, maybe if you want to candidate, your
accomplishments will be the one to rally & campaign behind
you, not always money & promises.
Now, if anyone disagrees, then it is a clear cut proof of
selfishness & personal interest.

bit of conscience left in him, he should resign!
It is all over for him. No amount of tough talking or show

Credibility is measured by people's reception. The
president is deluding himself. He knows that he is no
longer credible but he obstinately holds on to power. His
daily rhetoric and proposal to surmount the worsening
national crises provoke more anger in people's heart
because the longer he stays in power, the longer people
suffer. He is the cause of the present crises and people
know that. He becomes the epitome of a populist and
traditional politician whose self-interest comes first and
the country's comes last or not at all.
I come from a family of farmers and the precariousness of
our lives is contingent on how well the country is doing
economically and politically. My relatives voted for him
for valid reasons. But the significance of that action is
becoming much clearer. It was a mistake. In retrospect, it
was a dream, a search for a political figure whom we never
had as a nation. It was a longing for a savior to lift
ourselves from the quagmire of misery and poverty that are
slowly eating our dignity as human beings. It was a dream
without a foresight. It is only now that we are realizing
our mistake, yet our ability to accept also means that we
take the full responsibility of that action by responding
to the present national call in which more and more people
are clamoring everyday. This is real democracy in which
people take in their own hands what the shape their
future will look like. Failure to respond to this radical
calling from the people is undermining their capacity to
decide for themselves as a nation. "Asiong Salonga" doesn't
seem to heed the repercussions on people's lives of the
national economy that has fallen dramatically since he took
over the presidency. His stubborness is an affront to
democratic process he claims to uphold. The mere invocation
of the president's name makes people even more angry and
hungry. But it is not too late to make a heroic gesture by
capitulating to people's cry by stepping down from the
throne. This is the only way that deception can be avoided.
He might as well do it now or it might be too late...

His reform programs are good but not sufficient. Some of
them are motherhood statements, lacking in specifics. They
will not fully solve the crisis because most of the factors
that cause the crisis emanates from the president himself,
not all from economic factors. The problem is having the
confidence back on the presidency and to have excellent and
sincere leadership. Even if these reforms were implemented,
without excellent and sincere leadership and without
confidence on the presidency, reforms will be in disarray
and efforts will be futile. It’s a question of political
will but, sad to say, this is not in the president’s
vocabulary. This speech is another attempt to cover up
his grave wrongdoings by issuing promises of reforms when
in reality, accomplishing them is, somehow, again not part
of his vocabulary. Ningas kugon na naman. Pero ni
ningas nga, wala. And the president already had two years
to prove his worth. In his speech, some of the reforms
stated in it were personal reforms. Isn’t it insulting
having personal reforms included in reform programs that
are supposed to be national in coverage, for the benefit of
the entire country? Is it always that Filipinos will have
to adjust to his shortcomings or faults? Isn’t it that
the president should take care of the nation and not the
nation take care of him? The presidency is not a training
ground for personal improvement purposes. The president of
the country should be ready and capable to carry out
development plans from Day One while trying not to give
room for any mistakes since he affects the entire
nation. The problem with some of the people still
supporting him is they like to insist that he’s only human,
that people commit mistakes. I agree with that. But if
this is going to be a consistent excuse or part of the
country’s presidential virtues, the country will surely
deteriorate. In addition, he has been living that kind
of lifestyle for many years. It is very difficult and
almost impossible for someone to just turn around and mend
his ways in just days. The presidency of the country
cannot afford to have that.

everyday. Every political entity protects and saves their

feasible and it will not materialize. He only got few years
left. He was not able to perform well during his first few
years how can he suddenly change strategies just like that
and besides he had already lost the interests of majority
of the Filipino people. He may have managed to fool some of

I feel that the people around Mr. Estrada are as guilty as

have quit their positions and distance themselves from
Erap. I believe that they are the ones who have hidden
agenda for sticking it with Erap. The proofs are in front
of them and yet they pretend that they don't see them. And
why is it that Mr. Alfredo Lim, who in the past painted in
red the houses of suspected drug lords without going thru
trials, sticks to Mr. Estrada even if the proofs are much
clearer now? If he believes that the druglords are guilty
before any trials, then as the proof being uncovered
everyday against Estrada, he should as well find him guilty
and spare him of the people's anger.

The extension of the hand of reconciliation is a trap for
the Opposition. If accepted, they will be dragged into the
quagmire of ineffectivity. It is hoped by the authors of
the move that the resignation/impeachment campaign will die
a natural death by acceptance. Everything will be back to
normal in a few months. If refused, Malacañang will use the
refusal as an affirmation that the campaign is driven by
selfish motives, political manuevers, thirst for power and
other nasty inventions. In any event, the administration
thinks that it has bought time.
Refuge behind the Constitution is sought, thinking that a
mass of the intelligentia will be duped into thinking that
only impeachment is lawful under the Constitution. Lest it
be forgotten, someone must remind them of the maxim "Salus
populi est suprema lex." The welfare of the people is the
supreme law! Besides, I dare those geniuses to point to a
proscription in the Constitution against resignation or for
that matter a leave of absence.
And then again there is that dilatory promise to offer
explanation at the proper forum. This may be legal as in
the right of the accused to be informed of the nature and
cause of the accusation against him. However, was it not
admitted that the crisis our nation is confronted with
arose out of lack of credibility or trust? If this be so
then why delay the explanation or defenses? That a sense
of urgency must be instilled in those who govern is beyond
cavil. The message was clear. We are all "jueteng for
nothing". He will not abdicate, regardless of the suffering
of our people.
And yes, the awesome sight of military officers indeed put
everyone on notice, "huwag ninyo akong subukan!". To the
libertarian this is an insult to his intellect. An affront
against his concept of civilian authority over the
military, a challenge for him to exercise his freedom of
expression and a clear transgression over his freedom from
fear. To the mediocre, oh well - "Sabi ko na sa inyo huwag
na tayong sumali diyan eh. Magdasal na lang kayo!" Oh well,
there is nothing wrong with prayers. When all else fail we
can always count on Him. Maybe, just maybe, He would remind
the President (and his men of might and fury) that all they
wield are temporary and merely come from God.
I sincerely hope that your surveys will not be manipulated
like some television and radio stations I used to respect.
The framing of the survey questions of said stations have of
late been leading or misleading.
Thank you for this opportunity.

This is just another promise which surely would be broken.
Up to now, Estrada thinks (artista nga naman) that he is
still in front of the movie camera, that he could always
take more than 2 film shots to make his actions likened by
the viewers. It is such a big mistake.
According to economists, these reforms had been said a year
ago or he had already been told to do so long before the
economy started to sag.
I believe Dra. Loi Estrada deserves to have a monument
built by her children because being fooled at least 3X by
her husband is a martyrdom. Being betrayed once by a
husband is too much for a wife to handle-- unless patas
lang sila sa gawain ng isa't isa. For the peoples' trust,
being betrayed once must have no 2nd time around. Erap para
sa mahirap is the exact opposite of the real truth which is
Pera ng mahihirap para kay Erap. I fully believe in the old
saying, tell me who your friends are and i will tell who you
are. Kaya naniniwala ako na ang kanyang mga gabinete ay iisa
sa kanya sa pag-uugali at pagiging ganid. Unless they want
to save their reputation now by resigning (while there is
still time) or never again that the people would trust any
of them in any government office.
Therefore, it is my personal belief that Mr. Estrada won't
do any good at all with his "SAID" reforms. No
simple-minded Filipino would trust him and his cavinet,
never ever again.
**@globelink.com.ph (Angelito )
Estrada has never had any conceptual understanding of the
economic or political situation. He has no direction and is
never fit to be president. He has lost whatever credibility
he had and does not deserve any second chance. It is the

recession.

the october 30 reform program could not solve the crisis.
the present condition indicates the discontentment of the
majority of the people to the present government and the
whole system as well as one masa has quoted "kahit sinong

relevant because the present economic program of the past

the present system cannot solve poverty. all we need today

**@ata.attmil.ne.jp (nestor)
Pres. Estrada need to be more practical than patriotic.
What he needs to do is visualize the real picture of the
Filipino people suffering because of his actions. He must
submit himself to a full judicial process wherein no
manipulation of the judges nor tampering of evidence will
expedite the judicial process. The future looks very
uncertain and more frustrating for our younger generation
because of the economic depression the Philippines is about
to get into. Filipinos overseas get no pleasure but are
more embarrassed when the subject of leadership is
discussed. What will historians write about the legacy of
the President; was he the president that plunged the
Philippines into economic depression at the start of the
new millineum? All over the world, countries envy us for
our natural resources and tropic climate but we ourselves
do not know how to use them to their full potential. We
waste and disregard the value of our own unlimited
resources, instead we would rather wait for others to tell
us what to do. Our very own President doesn't care if the
little people die of hunger or starvation as long as his
cronies can manipulate the media and spoon feed them with
false information just to make it look like everything is
just fine. We as Filipinos, still and will never have the
self discipline that is required to become a self
sufficient nation. We will always depend on others to
sustain our bleak future.
**@fdeb.rdsnet.ro (Antonio)
These protests and campaigns to convince Pres. Estrada to
resign from the presidency are very good signs of a healthy
democracy. However, we must not allow extra-constitutional
activities to throw him out of his office. I, myself,
would like him out immediately but we have a constitution
to respect and to follow. If he does not want to
relinquish his post, it is his right but we must continue
protesting peacefully and correctly to increase the
pressure. Impeachment proceedings and voluntary
resignation are the only solutions to this crisis. Others
are unacceptable and we must not allow them to happen
because if they do, we will just be creating another
problem with a rippling effect and with us, the Filipinos,
in the losing end.
What are some of the morals of the crisis? First, we
should never vote anymore politicians with previous
affiliation or influence from the damned Marcoses. Why?
Because almost all bad governance and corrupt practices
came from this cursed administration. This past
administration taught public and military officials alike
how to abuse their authority.
Second, morality should be one of the major considerations
when electing a public official. If he/she fails in this
category, he/she should not be allowed to run for a
government position. He/She must be automatically
disqualified. Placing obviously immoral people in
government affects people on a greater scale. A government
official must have a strong moral fiber to make significant
decisions in government.

before he will finally resign, either voluntarily or

I am a former soldier of the country with the rank of
captain. I had seen the graft of my superiors before and
you won't be able to trace the evidence or gather any proof
against them. In my opinion, the opposition should proceed
with the impeachment process if they really have evidence.
It should clear up the mess. If the president is guilty or
not is besides the point. The point is that all parties
should abide by the law that they themselves ratified. If
the people in the government do not follow their rules then
God help the Philippines for it will fall into communist's
rule of blood. I think the president should be practice
humility and should submit to an investigation made by his
opposition. By doing that he could clear his name if he has
nothing to hide. The opposition should not try the president
by its bullshit propaganda. They should at least have some
courtesy for the Office of the President. And lastly, the
president should understand what loss of confidence means.
He should at least have the "delecadesa" or "hiya".
I am
glad that I am not there in the Philippines anymore since I
had enough of graft and corruption there. I had served the
country through my soldering days with honor. I had
sacrificed my time and life. I endured the salary of only
4,000 pesos while the civilian government people enjoyed
big salaries. To tell you, they are more greedy like the
governor in Ilocus. Right now, I have no confident even
with the senators and congressmen. They are just there for
the power and money. I pity the people there. Gone are the
days when men are men. When men used to have their "palabra
de honor". Gone are men that thought of their people. I hope
that all politicians wake up. I hope that they realized that
if they continue satisfying their greed for power and money,
there will be no country to govern in the future. But what
the heck do they care, they have greencards and lots of
money in their pocket to go anywhere in the world.
**@yahoo.com (Don)
For all i care and for those people who are aspiring to
lead the plight of our troubled country, listen to your
conscience. Why? because all of these brouhaha boils down
to hatred, self-serving purposes, and most of all a typical
filipino traits (which by the way we got it from the
Spaniards, Japanese and Americans), pagalingan at matataas
lahat ang ego...this is all true amongst us
Filipinos...whether we like it or not, it's in-born
kumbaga. Pls mssrs, for the sake of the rich and poor, give
the power to someone that has a true malayan (maharlika?)
blood...para walang inggitan..God bless to those who are
willing to accept that Filipinos (including me) are
hard-headed but smart. Thank you.

I would like to say that if President Estrada has still
faith left in God Almighty that he should confess all his
sins and start a new life with God. He should straighten
out his life first. If he does that then people will
believe that he is capable to run the country as a good
father runs a family. This also goes for his spiritual
adviser. A good spiritual adviser helps
the person to be a good Christian and live a life of
Christ. If not, both the President and the adviser
blasphemes. You cannot serve God and mammons. Hope that by
the power of the Holy Spirit Mr. Estrada will change his
way of life and may it be like the life of Jesus Christ.
Poverty and Humility...

i'd like to fast forward to the time after Erap: is
impeached/resigns in disgrace to see if jinggoy can still
laugh and joke about juetenggate. anyone with half a brain
can obviously see that he is "jinggle bells". the sight of
him makes me wan to throw up.
**@hotmail.com (eugene)
We don't have to wait for the results of the jueteng case
to get rid of him. The fact that Estrada is an immoral man
(i.e., having several "women in his life", a known drunkard
and gambler) disqualifies him from leading a country. Why
he's not even fit to be a barangay chairman!
I just can't figure out what is wrong with some of our
kababayans. How can they just ignore Estrada's character
in real life. Such immorality should not be tolerated in
our society.
**@hotmail.com (michael )
Immorality is the issue folks. Erap is immoral and so he
can not lead the country. That's just it. I just wonder now
what the Iglesia ni Cristo and El Shaddai have to say about
this. Please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these
religions supposed to teach their followers about the evils
of immorality? So how come???
Supporting Erap now (and even then) is equivalent to
embracing immorality.
**@pacific.net.ph (NINGNING)
The Phil. is the only Christian nation in Asia. Yet, our
nation is the laughing stock of the world. Why not do what
is written in 2 Chronicles 7:14? We can't rely on human
wisdom but on God alone. Answer does not come on the change
of leadership but on the change of heart. As of these trying
times,Erap can't lead a nation with a hardened heart. Let us
pray for him... for our nation. Let us seek God's face.
**@edsamail.com.ph (richard)
Erap should resign for us to move forward. he doesnt have
the capability to lead the filipino people.
**@edsamail.com.ph (Dino )
Erap still doesn't get it. It's either he doesn't want to
face reality, or he's clinging on to power like a big fat
leech or he is just simply stupid as he is allowing himself
manipulated by the machiavellian monsters around him.
What really pisses me off is that, he keeps on telling that
the people that are joining the rallies in Makati are the
elitists. The people that are in the Makati rallies are not
elitists, the ranks of people there are mostly WORKERS,
and other people from all walks of life. These are the
workers who keeps the wheels of our economy going. And
these are the workers who will be a big factor in helping
the 'masa' (which Erap uses to his own unfortunate
advantage) join
the ranks of the workers. Instead of clinging to their fate
of being doled out 'land titles'.
Erap should resign. Or face the wrath of the people and be
written in history books as the worst president in the
history of our country.

Comment on Pres. Estrada receiving Holy Communion in a mass
at Malacanang Palace: Since he is living in mortal sin by
keeping other women, he should not have been allowed to
receive the Sacred Body of Christ.
**@yahoo.com (Russell)
Yes, Mr. Estrada is an immoral man and should be impeached.
But let us be careful. There are other forces at work here.
Who will become the president after Estrada is impeached?
Gloria?
Gloria is known to favor everything that is U.S. It is
possible then for the U.S. to reestablish her military
presence here during Gloria's term.
And why would they want their forces here? For China of
course.
And what do you think might happen if war finally breaks
out between the U.S. and China?
We are the first ones to get bombed! (1 or 2 nuclear
warheads will do for such a puny country) While Uncle Sam
sits comfortably in his couch thousands of miles away
enjoying the fireworks display.
These are just speculations, but who knows? So we must be
very careful not to just let anyone lead us. We might
become so focused on trying to eject Estrada that we did
not even think who is the right candidate to replace him.

how dare she use the name of ninoy during her campaign!
"Kapatid ni ninoy!" i do hope that she'll finally come to

i urge the Filipino people not to support all the

I've been busy for the past few months and haven't really
checked what is happening with our country.
I didn't know that the Philippines is in a state of
political crisis, which is the root of the further
worsening economic problems.
I think Pres. Estrada must step down from his post. His
pride his hurting the country and the people.
This selfish attitude will do more harm than good. His
situation right now is going to a dead-end.
He should step down graciously. Hasn't he learned what the
Filipinos can do in trying times like these ('86 People's

More power to Inquirer and thanks for always keeping us

Sad thing is, Estrada is the president and any action by
the people such as a revolt (or revolution, depending on
whose side you are on), will only serve to worsen the
country's economic and political troubles.
The best we can do now is to hope he resigns or is
impeached by due process, or to simply suffer through it.
The ones at fault here are the citizens of the Republic,
for electing a president with such a dubious reputation.
My family and I are partly to blame. My parents did not
vote in the last elections. Come the next election, all of
us (I will be 18 by then) will be at our local precinct,
doing our part in making sure this does not happen again.

I wonder, Why are the words of Mr. Sinson sounds like a
Bible when everybody knows he is so rotten. Why wasn't he
investigated too and why would we believe everything he
said and Why the President is all wrong and liar. Sounds
like Barabas and Jesus Christ? Oh no! But look, it's like
a history reapeating upon itself. The clergy, top
officials and the too informed are after the blood of Mr.
Estrada. The bats has clouded the atmosphere too thick you
won't even know who is laughing the loudest. Who is the
casualty? The martyr Pinoys. Matuto naman tayo, sino ba

have blood into their hands.Hypocrisy at its finest. Let's
stop being pawn by the demigods of society and work our own
salvation.

Does Erap really think that the Filipinos are stupid? No
matter what he says now on t.v. we still know the truth.
He keeps on telling us that he will answer all the
questions in due time so why are his men delaying the
impeachment case that was filed against him. If congress
would just act on it then it would be easier for the
President. Gusto namin malaman ang sasabihin ni Erap.
Huwag na siyang gumawa pa ng mga excuses.

Watching the Blue Ribbon Committee grill Mrs. Ricaforte
made me laugh. How can she become a board member without
knowing if she had stocks in Campo Carne. Diba common
sense lang yon? Kung board member ka, may stocks ka. And
if you have stocks, you should also know how much you
have. Does she simply want us to believe na she did all
those things without any knowledge of what she was doing?
What was she trying to say na tanga siya? Please lang!!!
Ipinatunay lang niya lalo na mas may credibilidad si Gov.
Singson and I don't think she even knows that she did that.
**@hotmail.com (Rita)
Estrada's October 30, 2000 will never avert the crisis.
People are clearly fed up with him, especially since they
(those who voted for him as well as those who did not vote
for him but gamely accepted the results of the 1998
elections) gave him the great big benefit of a doubt.
True, most of us knew he had sired a lot of wastrels by
many mistresses. True, many of us knew that he was a
gambler and a drinker. But he kept the "masa" believing
that he was not corrupt, not one to dip his hands into the
public coffers.
But his masquerade, his attempts at presenting a clean
facade are now being stripped and exposed one by one--by
Gov. Singson, by the PCIJ, and Lord knows who else will
speak up tomorrow.
If he still wishes to be remembered with some fondness by
the people, he should resign now while there is still hope
of resuscitating the economy. He shouldn't drag the whole
nation into the cliff where he is falling.

swimming in it?
Government Warning: Smoking is dangerous to your health.
Government Advice: Just pretend it is not, we need the
taxes.
When drinking alcoholic beverages, Drink moderately. We
don't want you to die at once.
As to gambling, don't eat the jueteng fly, eat ours!

If there are flies in the government it's because we placed
them there.
We should change our ways and our hearts.
Let's get new soup! God has a bowlful that's free and he

bakit ba nanalo si Erap. sino-sino ba yung linapitan nya
nila. kahit ayaw nilang iboto.
isa pa open secret yung marami siyang anak at kabit. may
sumoporta pa rin sa kanya. ang masasabi ko lang ay marami
pa rin tanga sa cabinete lalo na si attorney puno. mawalang

it is a bad start. yung mga sinabi niya noong oct.

taong iyong pinagdurusa. I dare you mr. President for one
week. siguro kahit ikaw mumurahin mo ang pangulo ng

for the nth time, Erap missed the point.
the real solution is for him to step
down and bring his men with him.
his speech was well written, enough to

wrong-doings. but it doesn't fool me and
many others.

We have an extraordinary that needs an extraordinary
solution and I believe it is nothing less than the
resignation of the president. Pity. It is his friends and
his family that is bringing him down. It is the more
reputable people still with him that is giving him life
support. Im disappointed most of all with Sec. Lim.
Cardinal Sin has been right all along about
morality-gambling womanizing. We need Cardinal Sin and
people courageous enough to be outspoken for what is right
no matter who is uncomfortable with it. Sen Enrile? He is a
joke. Sen. Defensor? What can one say about this pathetic
bitch? More power to inquirer. I had always been with you.

There is no other option left for Mr. Estrada but to
resign. Mr. Estrada cannot seem to understand that the
issue is no longer whether he is guilty or not of the
allegations made by Gov. Singson. It is now a question of
whether he still has the capacity to effectively govern the
country. It is a question of whether he still has the moral
authority to be the President, whether people will still
listen. It is not about Mr. Estrada, it is about the
Presidency. Mr. Estrada has to stop thinking that the
mandate he got from the people in 1998, well, for those who
voted for him, is some kind of an irrevocable contract that
is effective up to 2004. Resign now. Mr. Estrada should
remember that the values of delicadeza and honor are still
valued by Filipinos.

Not only should Erap be forced to resign but his cronies,
his many abusive queridas and family members, etc. should
be prosecuted and jailed a la Tommy Suharto, as well! We
cannot close our eyes and be oblivious this time as we have
done in the past with the Marcoses. Let us show to the world
that they are wrong about Filipinos. We are not a corrupt
race, we care about what is right! We also should not let
indolence dictate our future! We should not leave our fate
to those who voted Erap into office, to the people who are
merely swayed because the candidate they voted for is a
popular "artista".Never again! We failed after EDSA!
Hopefully, we do not fail again this time!
