The call for resignation of Pres. Estrada by the Vice Pres was uncalled for. Due to this the clamor of the people for Erap's resignation diminished in credence. If there is one person who really deserves the seat of the president GMA is surely not the one. Erap will surely resign not because of all the politicians who readily jumpship with the first sign of trouble but because the people are fed up of the system of governance not only of Erap but the whole government. These politicians must take it as a sign of people's intolerance to inefficiency and corruption. These same people would not hesitate to take their grievances to the street again and again to wake up the government.

**@hotmail.com (Pearl)
At the rate things are going, I am sure Joseph Estrada's presidency will end anytime this month. Good riddance!

**@fdeb.rdsnet.ro (antonio)
Erap’s reactions to the recent mass resignations from his Cabinet and from his party were very immature, very inappropriate for a president of the country. By the way, Erap’s reactions from the very start of this crisis were somehow all immature and inappropriate. Instead of proactively, professionally, and correctly facing the crisis, he has chosen to be subjective and personal, sinking to the level of being very despicable. It is furthermore showing how poor his intellectual capability is, how he is always dictated by his emotions, how immature and unworthy he is to have the position of the presidency of a country. I really hope that these protests prosper because having this kind of a personality for a president will surely result to the downfall of our beloved country.

**@i-next.net (Vivian)
It would be a wonderful blessing and a true Christmas present to the Filipino people if he left. How can he say that the protest actions are only in imperial MetroManila? The various congressmen who have now signed the impeachment case represent their constituents from the various provinces and all strata of society including the D and E class. How I wish he would consider our welfare first before his.

**@gurlmail.com (lyn)
he's so stupid to stay in power that every filipino citizen wants him to step down. Its so shameful for us filipino's who are here abroad to hear and read about the stupidity of our president.

**@hotmail.com (Romi)
Both Filipinos at home and abroad must not allow Erap to stay in power any longer.

Filipinos abroad should defer going back to the PI this coming holiday season to send a strong enough message that Erap's continued stay in power will not be economically be tolerated.

To Chavit Singson: It takes a thief to know a thief!

**@info.com.ph (LL)
Erap if you really love the filipino people, you will resign.

**@ (LInda)
Ang dapat sa atin ay magka-isa. Si Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ay hindi karapat-dapat pumalit kay Pres. Erap.

**@emirates.net.ae (rolly)
Erap should be charge in court and put to jail after his removal from office.

**@hotmail.com (carlo)
i beleive the president will last for a month but not for three months given the current resignations of his key staff. i beleive he will cling on to power down to the last moment until he realizes that the water has finally flooded the entire chamber that it is time for him to jump ship. but certainly we can not blame him for clinging on to power down to thelast minute. he is just like the captain of the ship who will try to sort out things down to the last minute with the hope of turning things around for the better. the only problem is, by the time he realize that it is time to jump ship, the country is in terrible mess already. usually in this kind of situation when the crew people realize this kind of mess they are heading, they won't wait for the last moment to happen. if the ship they think is still viable the only option is mutiny. i hope we don't get to that point.

**@yahoo.com (Joseph)
The President should resign immediately to save our dying economy, and if he's truly "maka-masa" or pro-poor then he should step down and hand-over the Presidency to his successor.no less than VP Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

**@vtx.ch (ALBERTO)
Talagang, we Filipinos never learn our lessons. I have been here in Switzerland for about 20 years now and the very reason why I left the country is because of untrustworthy politicians especially pag nakaupo na sa puwesto like the one we have now Mr. Estrada. Hindi na umiral ang mga marangal na layunin na para mapaunlad ang ating bayan kung hindi mapaunland ang kanilang sariling bulsa. Talaga bang mananatili nalang tayong habang buhay na nasa ganitong katayuan? Can we not put God and christian values deep in our hearts for once when we are making decisions? Please let us give our beloved country a chance to be where it was before Martial Law days. We want to be proud of our country here abroad. Marami pong salamat.

**@ihug.dom.au ()
one great legacy a man can leave behind is the way he finished his journey in this life. if pres. estrada will step down now before the country gets into the brink of economic collapse, then it will be written in history as a positive legacy he's done for the country, otherwise he will just end up like marcos did.

**@yahoo.com (romer)
he thinks that he is helping the poor masses ever since, that's purely make believe, with the way things are going now, he should face the reality that even it gets worse, because of all his wrongdoings, it's the same poor people who will suffer the most. he is really an actor, still living in dreams, deep hallucinations, but "CUT" !!!. When he wakes up, he'll find out that in reality, everything he is, is between his legs.

**@one.net.au (curtis)
Its a shame that our beautiful country is again a laughing stock to the rest of the world. I have totally lost confidence not only to the present Administration but to all politicians in the Philippines. I can honestly say that all our politicians are very corrupt. All they think is how to fill up their pockets and how much they can fill. Its never enough. Calling them Honorable...that is a laugh what is Honourable with that title when all they do is rip-off the people rather than helping them or putting the country in good shape.

Since Marcos was ousted,Aquino, Ramos who we all respected but nothing happenned still the country is worst then ever. Where is this talk that corruption will be eliminated... never in this century. Our Philippines is a hopeless case. The best thing to happen to the Philippines is to wipe-out the whole nation preferably all politicians like what Pol-Pot did... elimination...starting from what we call year zero to start all over again. Its the only way to start clean and fresh

Impechment of Estrada will not do anything to the country too. Even I doubt Arroyo Macapagal can even do any better. Still we have the existing people around her who are also so corrupt and dirty ...worst of all calling themselves the saviour of the country. I don't believe any more about our politician ability to fix our country. Its sick as ever and I only hope that we can go back to the rule of Martial Law and rule in in a very honest way. The Filipinos are the worst ...no discipline in their lives and no more integrity left. All they think in their minds are how to rip-off each other. The richer you are, the better off they can rip-off the people who voted them in Government.

Lastly, we are not ready to be a fully democratic country...those who fought for democracy is only doing for their own agenda. We need a strong honest person who will run the country in a honest and straight manner but not in a democratic manner. We are not ready but sorry to say....there are times I am not proud to be a Filipino but I still hope and prayer that one day our country will shine again with prosperity and be respected by other nations in these world.....

**@yahoo.com (Romy)
Erap has been buried since Nov. 1. It's only his ghost that's striking the nation nowadays. In few days time his horror to the nation will be over. Tsk!Tsk! Tsk! Dong Puno. We feel very sorry for you buddy. You're very intelligent according to all sources and observations we have about you. However, you are in the wrong place and time. There's a saying in Pilipino "Matalino man daw ang matsing, napaglalalangan din". Are you not ashamed of what you are telling the public...that your voice is what the president says? oww!!!common wake up genius Dong. There's still time to rebuild your equally sinking popularity with your stinking boss. Your days are numbered including your political career.

**@AQL.com (Alexis )
It is a mistake for Mr. Estrada to rely on "legal" process (i.e., impeachment, according to him) to save his presidency. Impeachment is primarily a political process. While his party is the majority in the House, ultimately the members (who are thinking about their own political survival) will vote in accordance to what the people are clamoring for. Who was it who said "My loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to myself, err, my country begins?"
Indeed, Mr. Estrada was installed as the president by a political process, and he shall be removed from office by political means.

**@yahoo.com (Francis )
I don't think he can last that long as
President, if we base it on the mass
resignations from Erap's party. Before,
he thought the impeachment proceedings
would not pass the House. Now, only the
Senate stands in front of an impeachment
'snowball'. I'm sure Senators thinking
of voting against impeachment are also
thinking that their political careers are at stake here. One way or the other,
Erap is finished politically. But
Senators still have their asses to save.
And when push comes to shove...

To all those thinking of a political
career via the movies/television: You
have seen the effects of empty promises.
Wanna try your luck in May 2001?

We believe that President Estrada is guilty as charge. And if he's really sincere that he cares for the Filipinos else it only shows that he's selfishness to hold on to a position that he doesn't deserve. Presidant Estrada caused a lot of trouble to the Phil. economy and moral.

**@askdoctorpc.com (Andre)
Dear President Estrada,

Please do the right thing for the country you have sworn to protect. It should be obvious by now that the tide is turning against you. Make a deal, (as you must be thinking) to get immunity for your kickbacks, before you bring down the whole county with you. Your asawas are probably already telling you the same thing.

The time has come.

I think it's true that jueteng should be lagalized since many unemployed in our country are making a living out of it.However,Jueteng Lords should be taxed by the government and tax money should be given back to the poor, not the President mistresses or politician's pocket.Erap is a DAMN user, ginamit nya ang mga mahihirap to reach his level, and now he's making poor people's life a living hell!!
Erap,I think you should step down.I don't know how in the hell you can still show your "Demonic Face" in camera! masyado nang garapal ang pinaggagagawa mo.You are not setting good examples to your government officials and country-men.You are not a great leader,Oh no, not a leader at all!I think what you are is what you eat!!A chicken, pig and a PUSSY!!YOU SUCK!!!Please get the hell out of Malacanang because you're embarassing us.People overseas tell us that we have a fucked up government system because we have a fucked up president.

He new from the very first day of his presidency that this type of scandal will come out. Jueting was already deep rooted in his heart since he was still the Mayor of San Juan. These were the vices available in San Juan during his term (Jueting, sakla, pula puti and sabong). He was the number one protector. It was really true that some of the proceeds taken were given to the poor who normally visited him in his office and the rest to his mistresses.

As a God fearing government official, very soon he will accept in his heart those mistakes from the past. He could not afford to sacrifice the well being of the Filipinos.

The only solution for our economic problems is for him to step down now. The earlier the better to save us from total collapse.

Thanks,

OFW from Saudi Arabia

**@cyberdude.com (Marlon)
Estrada can save the country from further ruin by saving himself from further humiliation -- he should resign. But since his misplaced sense of machismo prevents him from taking the most obvious way out of his predicament, there is another alternative that he can possibly explore. Suicide is painless. He should follow the lead of Japanese leaders who have taken their lives for much lesser failures and crimes against their people. Harakiri is not only considered noble but may also be interpreted as the supreme act of contrition.

if the people's clamor for his resignation will intensify and at the same time backed by the continuing resignation by his cabinet officials as well as partymates, then there's no doubt the president is bound to resign before the month ends.

**@ (Jacqueline)
Yes, I think he will last since in the first place even with this anomaly he still sits in Malacañang as if he is innocent. A man of wisdom will really think twice for if he really cared for his good name to be carried throughout history, he should have stepped down a long time ago and give way for a healthy change not only in our economy but of the whole government system.

**@cs.com (alvin)
Yes, Pres. Estrada would last even until the end of the term unless something like the people power of 1986 or mass resignation of the people around him happens. He would surely cling on to that position like the former Pres. Marcos did. Now that his pride and ego has been touched, all the more he would stay and fight for it.

How can he fill the positions that were vacated by the significant numbers of resignations that happened this last week? Whoever considers the job will be out of their mind! Assuming that these prospects are well educated and because of that are already holding a good positon, the question is, would they leave their secure jobs for the uncertainty of the Estrada's cabinet, never mind tainting their good reputation by supporting Erap. In a totally different subject, we should consider the Oreta, Osmena impeachment for accepting money from the President- this is unethical, and gives the wrong perception- enough to be impeached!!!

Men with intelligence, men of moral obligation, men of conscience, men of true service to the nation have already abandone Mr Erap. His days in Malacanang is numbered. He cannot last without the finest advisers around him.

Now he can't even give presidential answers to ambush interviews. He seems lost in the widerness. Wala na talaga. Only the crooks and the likewise corrupt PNP and some military men will stand by his side.

It's just sad that our country is facing this political trial. But only if those people in the politics could serve with all sincerity and not putting "MONEY" their priority. Money should not be our master because there's only one master and that's our Lord Jesus Christ. Why can't we just learn to live simple lives and focus on our Lord Jesus Christ- the unconditional love that He gave for us--why can't we have the purity of hearts that would results peace, joy in everyone.

Remember: we will not live here on earth for long..we will eventually die! isn't it important for us to know where we are heading after death?..hell or heaven??

In Jesus Christ He only wants our the purity of our hearts...we have to be righteous in His eyes.

Whatever we do, we should do it for the Lord above all!

To the President: I really don't know what's the truth but hearing all of this here in Canada makes us all filipinos feel sad. Filipinos gave their vote and trust to you and its just so sad if you would put it in waste. You don't need a lot of advicers to tell what to do in our country and the current situation. There's only one who can tell u the right decision to make and that is our lord and savior jesus christ...Think on what would our Lord do in that situation..don't let His enemy (devil) be your master..don't be slaves of money!

Surrender it to our LORD!

Ah, it's all over now, Erap boo.

Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you. The vagabond who's rappin' at your door

Being a student and a proud proclaimed Filipino-American here in the United States, not only am I saddened and upset by the events that are undergoing in my country, but I am also disappointed and ashamed. Being brought up here, I have been eager to learn more about my culture and the country that I've never been too. And in doing so, I have found the Philippines to be a beautiful country, full of a beautiful people and a beautiful culture. Not only should President Estrada step down as President, but he should be exiled to an island alone so he won't have the luxury he's so accustomed to and most importantly, he will also feel the suffering that he has brought upon his own people.

In my personal perspective the President "may be linked" with jueteng. Big deal!! But "who amongst the opposition is not?" Are they claiming that they are cleaner than the President? What about Cory Aquino - ever since she left the palace she continually used her loot to maintain her activism, who is she with? look around countrymen, they are communists!!! About Ramos who is he? During his reign, He did not do anything except travel the whole world... why? it was personal interest of getting the big pie of Marcos's money... Did Ramos do anything good for the Philippine people, huh, read the story behind his reign.... He was likened to a dummy sitting on the pedestal!!! Now lets scrutinize Gloria Mapacagal, what difference does she have from her backers? She is "atat..na atat!!! can't she wait for her time? She was elected by the people as vice president because she is only good for that position... I wish it is election already and see if the people will elect her as President... There is a rule of the thumb... tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are!!! (that's you Gloria Arroyo!) Ramos is hiding his behind from the big scandal in the billion pesos project (DAU) which he looted a lot of money... explain your wealth too Ramos... and who in the hell do you think you are... you are an X president... guido... you are still sleeping in the kangkungan... your days are gone... go home and face the reality..

"You can fool some of the people some of the time, butnot all the people all of the time..." Tired cliche, but very appropos to the Estrada administration.

Alas, Estrada is, indeed, no more than the village idiot who caught the fancy of the people that catapulted into power.

His biggest mistake is his rapacious and insatiable greed that went beyond the "maximum tolerance" of his fellow thieves.

But I think the real rub was when "His Goodness" Estrada went on national TV brandishing his Generals.

"Damn, you robbed us and now scare us too? No way, Jose!"

I just hope, however, that the people after the ouster of Estrada would not again so be stupidly forgiving. Let's put to jail the Estradas/Ejercitos, the Singsons, the Pinedas, the Angs, the Ricafortes, et al, and sequester all their properties.

If we fail to do that, we'll again go back to square one...

It's now the 21st Century. Wake up, people!

If Mr Erap is accuse bribe money why not go ahead proceed impeachment process ? , and arrest all people involved file charges put in jail including the Gov. who started this scandal. Its is wrong for Vice pres. to quit her post, also people followed her. Phillipine at this point of time is socially & economically battered, please do not use the lower class of the masses to attain someone goal to replace the current. A good example a Trade Secretary quit his post, he should done a year ago, Why? watching his performance dollars exchange rate P37 to $1, when he start job and now P51 to $1. he is only one of the reason. So government stability and peace & security could bring local & foreign investor will help. This is sad if we Pilipino continue to resolve issue by shutting down government.

I think that Estrada should step down. He should not have been elected in th first place. The bigger question becomes, whoever succeeds him, would she/he be able to bring meaningful change in the country? There are so many issues and problems to be addressed. Will the people be in a position to discern (and elect if necessary) the right leader? That's what we need; a public that although poor, has the knowledge, courage and character to elect the right leader. Whenever I see a kababayan who came into the US wearing a T-shirt with a logo "gising", I am encourage. It's time for us not only to talk about it. It's time to gising and act...

Good luck...

To Inquirer,

I left the country last year to work in BKK as a business executive in one of the manufacturing plants here. I do not want to leave the country since I feel that there is so much future in the type of business I deal with. But the owner of the company I previously worked with in the Philippines has been a victim of Estrada's administration's gambling cronies. My ex-boss has a great vision for the country and helped a lot of people to earn a living.

Now, I see BKK getting very progressive faster than MNL. Ten years ago, I saw BKK which is just like MNL now. Can you imagine my father was with his Thai classmates in IRRI more than 30 years ago learning how to grow the miracle rice. Now it is Thailand who reaped everything and had benefited from what they learned in Los Banos, Philippines. The Phils. is now far behind in rice production. The skyways and the skytrains here are so impressive. It will take forever in MNL before we reach the infrastracture status of BKK. Yes, there are some corruptions in Thailand but you can see a better quality of life here and there are more visisble results of progress. I still want to go back to the Philippines. I have an investor who wants to open up factorires in Asia. I have asked my friend from DTI and she said that I am very brave to open up factories in the Philippines. I still believe in the Filipinos'craftmanship, diligence and resilience. Who can be proud of them except fellow Filipinos. My hopes are still going and if Estrada could just graciously resign, then I will be one of the most grateful Filipinos who can still call him a gentleman. I can still watch his movies, though.

Still hoping...
Elsa

I have been visiting the Philippines since 1989 and I believe that Ramos was the best President the country had. I noticed some real improvements whilst he was in power and I believe that De Venecia would have continued improving the Country. Instead, Filipinos voted for an actor! I implore you, please stop voting for actors and singers to run the country. Vote for policies and integrity, not good looks and acting ability.

most of us (OFW'S) were so affected by the current situation there in Phils. honestly speaking wala na kaming natitirang tiwala pa kay Erap. kailangang magresign nalang siya

Erap is from the old school (aka MARCOS era) whose convoluted mentality about politics is get-rich-quick-everyone-get-out-of-my-way. He's been in this state of mind too long, and he's finally getting a rude awakening, because politicians like him have no place in the NEW ARENA of Philippine Politics. I hope all wanna-be leaders of the new Republic get the message loud and clear - there is no place in Phil. politics for crooks.

well all i can say is that Erap is the stupidest president........thanks!!

Estrada's demand for a referendum even as the impeachment process is being heard on the senate is a blatant expression of his disregard to the flight of the Filipinos. How can he think of such an expensive process while the current year's budget deficit is soaring and the economy is in near collapse because of his own doing? His government has consistently shown its insensitivity to its own people. As the father of the country he has done a despicable job of briinging this country in chaos and pitting the children of the nation against each other. While the country's masa undeniably voted him in office, he does not lead them alone but the whole country. Thus, each and every Filipino under his governance has the right to demand his resignation or ouster. Even if they had not voted for him.

For the love of GOD, Erap resign!!! Immigrants, Fil-Am citizens in America are planning to hold a peaceful rally in front of US embassy at the end of November if Estrada does not resign. E-mail will start to circulate next week within the Filipino community.

This is not just a Filipino issue in the Philippines. This is an issue of Filipinos all over the world.

This is not a threat but a warning to Erap. We, Filipinos all across the US will unite in every possible way for our voices to be heard that we support ouster of President Estrada. Prayers for the new leaders of our government will be momentous to this rally.

Personally, I am disgusted with the entire issue of "juetengate". Estrada a high powered thief, with no regards to morality. He should be prosecuted for all crimes committed along with everyone involve.
