By the number of resigning Eraps friends and the growing number of protester I dont he will last that long. Incidentally ,asistio and the rest who said that they valued their friendship so much are the true tyrants of the country.Friendship is only personal or private but not public or for the people . Does these people knew what they are saying or thinking. If there will be armed struggle these are the people to be ousted with Erap.

**@cs.com (Giorgo)
The handwriting is on the wall. The "true" friends of Erap should sit him down and tell him the facts & realities. For the good of the country & recovery of the economy, Erap will be macho enough to resign if he has a face- saving graceful way out! That should be granted to him as President.

**@lvcm.com (Joseph)
I think Mr. President Estrada would last for these month as a presidnt, he'll try every strategy to divert himself from the jueteng payola scum. Eventhough he may look okay everytime he faces the media but i know he is very stressed mentally. As the everyday pressure from people to the opposition party builds up, soon hes gonna run out of option, who knows what hes capable of doing.

**@yahoo.com (Daniel)
He should have not been voted to that
esteemed position.There is only one
group to blame,"Pilipino Voters".We
usually vote not by conscience but by
the candidate's appeal.

**@MSN.COM (thomas david)
I think pilipino people should take this issue seriously .... I know that alot of people voted for estrada only for his popularity , he also marcos cronny or tuta .....i remember when imelda marcos return in the phil, from usa... Estrada and boy assistio are the faces i saw in the airport protecting madam butterfly imelda marcos..........i hope he gonna be out of office sooner ....pero sabi nga niya pang famas ang acting niya recently...no remorse iknow for sure labas na naman ang mga tuta ng mga assistio vote buyying nanaman ,bayaran nanaman at hakutan ng nga tao sa rally inexchance of money and tshirt with matching pasyal pa sa luneta dahil bayad pati bus.......fare....ay yay yay yay....buhay pilipino ican't blame the poor dahil laman tian din ang rerang ibbinibigay nila.....long live sa mga oposition ........

**@alfalaval.com (enorme)
I dunno what's taking so long for estrada to resign. he's calling his cohorts for support of his administration. i think this guy is really nuts. he thinks this is all about "kumpadres", nope!! this is about a nation and people being rob of decency and pride. Now, its time for the gang leader and his minions to leave cause it is very humilating for the filipinos to have a leader in the likes of estrada. he still thinks he is in the movies and any wrongdoing can be corrected by a mere denial. Damn you estrada! the future of our country is at stake, you had your chance and you blew it, Dickhead!!!!

yes the president will last till end of his term, sana naman hintayin muna nila kung anong mangyayari sa impeachment, ang dami-daming problema ng bansa, lahat sila nakatuon lang kay presidente, kasi may kanya-kanya silang intensyon.kawawa naman ang presidente walang matinong kaibigan mga nang-iiwan sa ere dapat nga tulungan pa nila si Erap ngayon.

The issue at hand for the Philippino people is how to build a political system to prevent the same abusement of power to take place over and over again.

Erap should step down asap to let the people still have a slight chance to recover from extreme poverty before the Country's economy totally collapsed.

It is an international tragedy to see a Country relying its major foreign exchange to come from hard labors of her daughters working as servants abroad.

**@qatar.net.qa (Edgardo)
Did those illustrious senators and congressmen have to leave the LAMP before they can announce their support for the impeachment process? Will being in the ruling party prevent them from voting against the President? I bet their 'official' reason for bolting Erap's party is their concern for the country. Not one of them will claim to be more concerned about his/her political carreer. But we know otherwise. Or do we?

**@ (J.)
Most people occupying the top seats of the Philippine Government are layers and professionals, but they are ignoring the legal process about the case of the President. Everything should be done in Constitutional way. They should set a good example to the people who honors the Philippine Constitution. Of what they did against the President will deeply buried the economy. I admire and a big salute to Mr. Alfredo Lim about his opinion for the case of the President, he knows best the legal process of it. Mr. Lim sounds like having no politics on him but willing to serve the country with honor and belief on Constitional way.

Thank you & more power.

i think that its a real shame what the
President of the Philippines has done
to himself and to the Nation.
Can not one person in the Philippines
put the national interests 1st, instead
of personal profit ?
trapo"s are killing the Philippines,
not to pprotect the poor and working
poor , but to enrich themselves .
The TRAPO"S and the Church have vested
interests and are not going to Give up

Mr. Estrada has become a liability to the country that entrusted him its way of life. He betrayed that trust by his incompetency and greed. I wish he would stop using the poor as his reason to stay in power because we all know that's no longer the case. He needs to go ahead and step down and save the country from a grueling process; as if, the country is not already suffering enough economically and morally. We all know he's not too bright, and that, he should have never been the president in the first place; however, I just don't know what part of the "chaos" that's happening because of him that he doesn't understand? Please help me out here!

**@aol.com (Apolinar )
Erap's reign will probably be shortlived in terms of presidential tenure. The issue is how wise is the electorate in excercising their right of suffrage. Let us consider the setbacks that the country suffered and expand our outlook beyond the local, national, regional and global communities. We are continously falling behind as a nation. Let us be future Filipinos, with the same genes but the DNA of graft and corruption.

**@aol.com (chell)
To whom it may concern,

I am aware of what is going on there in the Philippines. I just want to give you some feedback about this matter. First of all, no one can impeach the president because almost 90% or more voted him to be a president of our country. But worst comes to worst because of the highest exchange rate.. you are blaming Mr. Estrada for that problem as well as the gamblings issues. For me ... it's not his fault. He did a lot of things in our country but how dare to all those peolpe who wants him to resign on his position esp. those in the position right. Please think you do that to him. What you are doing is ... you are trying to embarrass & annoy his personality. This is just my opinion about this matter.

**@cebu.pworld.net.ph (Frank)
Someone whom Erap believes should tell him to resign now. By himself he is too rattled and confused to grasp the real situation. Looking at his past record, he never had it in him to come up with something positive.

**@yahoo.com (roberto)
The President should do the Pilipino people a favor, to step down as soon as possible to put a stop to the misseries he has caused once and for all and give everyone the chance to recover. He should be man enough to realize by then that in reality he never was "para sa mahirap" but instead it should have been worded " para hindi ako maghihirap"

**@msn.com (alex)
Erap will go down in Philippine history as the worst President ever elected by popularity and the President who wants it all. Anybody care to vote for Fernando Poe Jr. or say, Richard Gomez ?

Para niyo ng awa, mag-bitiw ka na! Nasubukan mo na, hindi mo kaya!!!

**@batangas.net.ph (Edward)
The resignation of Drillon and Villar
makes it easy for the Congress and the
Senate to impeach the President. This is
a strong sign that Estrada's days in
Malacanang is coming to and end.

**@hotmail.com (Ronald)
My opinion regarding Erap's situation is he should resign as soon as possible to enable the country to move forward, economically. I just hope that the 'Tiger Economy' that we had under Mr. Ramos would come back as soon as possible to change the appearance of the country, in our eyes and in the eyes of the world. If not then I think it would be best if we just settle to have our country be another state of other country. Since no one obviously how to run the country right!!

Wala siyang kaluluwa. Sakim sa pilak.

I can almost congratulate myself upon hearing on the resignation of Senate President Drilon and Speaker Villar from the coalition of the ruling party. It is the last straw on the proverbial's camel back that will lead to the resignation of Erap.Frankly, I have no high regard for both of the houses, because their credibilities leave much to be desired. Now, I believe there are still politicians in this country that could rise above partisan politics.I say to them, may your tribe increase and may God bless you.

**@usa.net (Jonathan )
this mess started in that fateful day in
may 1998 when all filipinos selected the
next person to lead our country to the
next mellinnium.

it was appalling to say the least that
majority of our people elected Joseph
Ejercito as the new president.

To vote is a right, and somehow, most of
us just put to waste that opportunity to
select the best leader that will somehow
alleviate the burden of many filipinos.

we are so caught up with the hype of
show business. we are so gullible to
believe that a movie personality can
lift the morale of the underpriviledged,
the peasants and farmers.

And now, we as a country has suffered
the consequence of that choice we made
back in 1998. Political Turmoil in the
very heart of Malacanang, an Economic
crisis that's choking the whole nation.

It's time for new and fresh mandate.
There's no clear-cut answer to the
problems but one thing is certain,
if Estrada remains to be president,
we'll definitely be further buried
in a deep trench and we might not
get out of in time to heal and sow
peace and justice that everybody's
crying for.

We as a people need to be vigilant once
again, a new tyrant is in control of
our country and we must not allow
the things that happened in the 70's
and 80's.

we must call for Erap's resignation and
if he has a heart, a compassion to the
filipinos who's dying and suffering,
the only moral thing, the only
righteous thing to do is step down
and cut clean.

**@stargate.net (Weng)
To impeach Estrada isn't the answer. Officials (everybody) should cooperate and unite for the Philippine economy not pointing fingers to each other. Let Estrada finish his term. For those who want to become a President too, wait for your turn.

**@yahoo.com (Lolita )
I think that Pres. Estrada should resign. It is alot better than being impeached. I can't understand how he can deny everything on what is happening to the country. He has been telling the people that he hasn't gotten money from the gov't. I think he is in the denial stage, that's why he can't admit on what is the truth. Everybody has been resigning left and right in his cabinet. Who will replace the politicians that vacated the position. Who will support him. I think he should resign for the good of the people. Changing the reforms will not help. Can't he see the economy is going down the drain. Investors are not investing for fear that the president will put it in his pocket. I call to you Mr. President, resign before you loose your dignity. Save while you still have the time.

**@ (j)
I hope the Filipino people will learn from this experience and start learning that their votes are very important and crucial.

**@aol.com (Irma)
Pres Estrada lost the confidence and trust of the filipino people. The best thing he can do now is to follow what the majority wants- for him to resign, before the philippine economy will collapse.Niloko lang niya ang masa!!!!!!!!!!!

**@hotmail.com (Alkadia)
I think the President will last, not because he is well-liked or he is good or because he is strong. He will hold on simply because he is a leech and greedy. He has too much pride that he doesn't want to lose face. He thinks that by holding on to his position, he will save face - that is simply love of one's self (he is a very selfish man).

**@yahoo.com (tino )

This will be a lesson to all Filipino people, to vote somebody qualified to be a leader not in the movies but in the real world. Today is the time to realize how important it is to choose the right person. One who is a true leader, one who can improve the economy and not cause it to collapse like Erap. Graft and corruption is still in the blood but its up for us to let it stay there forever.Otherwise all of us will suffer for the rest of our lives and the generations to come. Pres. estrada, Please be humble and resign now before everything is over.

**@math.ucalgary.ca (Hopeserate)
Estrada is finished, thank goodness!
He was never fit to lead the country
even at the start. Everytime he
opens his mouth I wince at what he
might say this time - sometimes I worry
that toads might come out with each word
he utters. Most often than not, what
he says indicates the shallowness
of his thoughts - he sorely lacks the
perspective and understanding of being
the president of the nation.

Now he tells us that he is hurt because
some of his friends have "deserted" him.
Doesn't that remind us of a sulking
child?

**@digitelone.com (carmel)
the last time he spoke on tv, he already looked so much like a defeated man. i remember likening him to a balloon that was pricked because i thought he looked less bulky than he used to. his face was thinner, too - or was that an optical illusion? anyway,i don't think he is still able to do much thinking at this time and is merely relying on his friends to tell him what to do. also, the only reason why he still hasn't resigned is that the ship hasn't fully sunk yet, and a desperate man will hang on for life even if it is clear that there is no other option for the ship but to continue to sink deeper.

especially after yesterday, i think he knows that he will not last much longer. his time has run out - even if i don't like arroyo, she was right when she said something like the proper time is now - (even yesterday) for him to explain and prove his innocence. when he said he will explain "at the proper time," it was obvious that he was buying time to fabricate his alibis. when he said lately that his silence didn't do him any good and he would now speak out, he wanted to give the impression that he kept silent because it was the decent thing to do at the time; however, according to how he has always projected himself, it's not second nature to him to keep his mouth shut out of a sense of decency or delikadeza. an INNOCENT president who does not think twice about lambasting former presidents and other people he does not like will not be stopped from cursing and swearing WHILE reacting to singson's allegations and proving his innocence at the same time. in fact, he would hardly be able to wait for the proper forum. so if only because of his personality as we know it and have seen it, there's something about the way he is handling this (or not handling this) issue that doesn't add up.

anyway, i can still sympathize with him for (i think) i know how he must feel. for one in his situation, terminal cancer might even be a better face-saving option. i hope he will just resign and not wait to be impeached anymore. the decision is his' as to how he wants to go down in history.

**@dva.gov.au (napoleon)
What Asistion is saying about standing by for an embattled friend is right. Through thick and thin a friend must standby to support, lie if necessary and fight for a troubled friend. But for goodness sake Asistio, you and your friend is in the public service where the welfare of the populace is a priority. You have been in the government (local) service but still you don't know why you are there. If you were really a good friend you should have asked Erap not to enter politics at all and you too yourself should not be in the politics.

**@aol.com (ricky)
now it's our turn to bet on Erap.........how long will he last, what date will he step down, etc.....pinoy nga naman!

**@cs.com (Eden)
How long will Erap last? Gosh, it's a waste of time for the impeachment process to to take its course! With the position taken by the honorable men and women in the 2 chambers, notwithstanding the resignations by members of his Cabinet and key presidential advisers, what else would keep him from stepping down? He has already lost the faith and trust of the Filipino people; no amount of 'promised' reforms will ever bring back the trust because now, the Filipino know better.... When he was elected President 2 years ago, I would say "Let's give him a chance" to his detractors albeit deep in my heart, I knew that the Philippines would be in danger of losing its mark in the better side of the 'developing countries'. I may have been pessimistic but judging from his previous senatorial performance and his vice presidency, he did not possess the qualities to lead the nation. His being elected as President was a simple result of popularity contest, when the Filipino people was fooled by his 'masa' appeal... It's now time for the Filipino people to come to their senses to support the call for Erap's resignation. If the Filipino people did it before during the 1986 EDSA Revolution, why can't we do it again now?

**@ (Mariano )
What is happening now to Erap is just a normal culmination of a second class leadership who depends mostly on his cabinet due to lack of knowledge running a country. When he was winning the election last 1998; I can't forget Peter Jennings comment that runs like this;In the Philippines presidential election a former actor who is a self-confessed womanizer and a heavy drinker is leading the race. The grin on his face struck me deep within cause I thought he's thinking how stupid us filipinos to vote such kind of a leader.
A traditional politicians has more
finnese than him. Jueteng money comes from the poorest of poor(no middle class pinoy would even think of jueteng) and yet he gurgled and embezzled all this poor money( as being alleged). Wa class!

**@bohol-online.com (Carlos )
Te President expects the mass resignation to happen to silence the street protests. Once the Articles of Impeachment is in
the Senate, you how much time is needed
in the process. The streets would now be
silent, the President would defend himself and the moro-moro may take over. Those
bolted may again smile with the President and happy times are here again.

He must personally resign or else, the Filipino people will do it for him.... be empeached? or, resign?????

I agree with Gloria Arroyo that intervention from heaven is going on at present time, and that the Holy Spirit is touching people's hearts so that the truth will be clearly revealed. The truth will set you free as what the Bible says. Philippine is the only Christian country in the far east, and we must praise the lord for that.God is on our side, we are His children. Amen, Amen.

**@ (sam)
Since Estrada is an ambitiuos hardheaded person ,I don't think that he will step down ,even though he knew that it is the cause of all the terrible things that is happening to our country ,especialy our economy which is plumiting very fast. Come to think of it ,if you are in his place or even if you are an ordinary citizen which hold a very important position, are you going to hold unto it up to the very end even though you knew everybody will fall because of your action?
The best thing the president should do is to step down and defend his integrity as an ordinary citizen .In that way he can keep his integrity and humanity .Because it is the only reason why greater number of people believes he is guilty of all the accusation he is having now ,that's why he is afraid to step down.

The public clamor for him to quit is so outrageous and he and his political aides just won't listen. It is alright for Erap to fail coz he got no mind of his own, but for his aides that would just tamper their track record. So why don't they start their exodus, too and they would do the country great.

I also believe that those that are his staunch supporters do not have the best interest of the country at heart. Is it maybe they too have too much to hide and loose? I hope they will also see the light and join their fellow senators and quickly resolve the crisis that is so badly affecting the country. I'm Filipino citizen and away from the country for many years now. However, I still admire the country and most people who work hard.

I think with all these things happening in our country, (economic crisis, messed up political leaders, unemployment, corruption, natural disasters etc...etc... and the list goes on), what we really need now is cooperation amongst all of us. These people who we call "leaders" should all sit together and discuss how they could solve our problems instead of pointing at each others mistakes or crimes. I am sick and tired already of the malpractices of our leaders. Filipinos are admired by other neighbouring asian countries for having good communication skills and wayback years and years ago, the Philippines used to lead other neighbouring asian countries economically and in goodwill. What happened to all that? What happened to all our leaders? Have we completely lostt our sense of intelligence? Our genuine Filipino culture? I think what our country needs now is a leader who still believes in moral values. Everyone is so hungry for power - not for the purpose of leading us to the right path but leads us nowhere! We are completely confused and lost. We don't know where to go, who we should go with or turn to, what should we do????????

So....I think for the sake of good order in our country I call on those so called "leaders" to please clear up your mess and don't make us people here abroad to suffer more. We sacrificed and left our families back home to seek job that could give our children good education and better lives, and yet we still have to suffer here. We are being discriminated everywhere and it breaks our hearts just because our own "leaders" don't care about us at all.

Hoping and praying for the best!

I have an opinion or comment to make but mine or anyones comment is not really what is important.Only God's opinion matters. In the bible it is a mandate for us to pray for our leaders. I have done that for Estrada and his cronies and everyone else in power in the Philippines. But one thing I have to say when Estrada recited the Psalm of David, which is Psm 70-71 a week or so ago, i almost feel sorry for him. Notice that I say almost. One, when David prayed that prayer to God, he was repentant and knew that he was powerless and that God has the sovereign power to do according to His righteousness. Two, David's enemies were real enemies. In Estrada's case, his God is himself and his real enemy is himself. He has lost all sense of decency and just like Samson he does not realize that his power had already left him. The people is not behind him anymore but against him, he needs to cut his losses and bow down; quietly and reverently, not to the people but to God who loves him and the people that he is supposed to serve. You see, until a person learns to make his vertical relationship right (God) his horizontal relationships (people) will never be right. He has forgotten about his God, so his heart has taken him to all the pleasures it desired. The blood of Jesus Christ has atoned for our sins and has reconciled us back to God. It is high time for all of us to consider our ways. The bible has given us enough examples, that if God wants to punish a nation He gives them bad leaders. It is time to pray the prayer on 2 Chronicles 7:13-14.

Its only the elite who wanted the President to resign! The masses are still behind the president. .

The question is: Is Estrada's Resignation can save us?

We, Filipinos, are in the midst of discovering who we really are. It is not the sole responsibility of the President to save a nation! Rather, it is everyone's responsibility. Therefore, I don't believe that Estrada's resignation can save us. But because Estrada has lost the public trust, in this respect he should resign. But this will not mean that the problem is solved already. The nature of people in general is the ever searching for a universal solution to problems, like alchemist searching for what turns base metal into gold. The Filipino people has put the fate of the Philippine nation into the one hand of the President. In this times of crisis, we should wake up and work hand in hand. Let us be united and help our president and the country. We are all part of the solution and only when we become united can we save our nation. By nature, I am not a political person. But the recent times has caught my attention because I cannot anymore endure the stupidity of the Filipino masses. When can we learn to work together? Instead of helping our president, we mocked him. Instead of supporting him, we mocked his intelligence. I can be a qualified member of the MENSA society. This is a society of the highly intelligent people around the world. But I never judge the president's intelligence. It doesn't need a genius to rule a nation!!! What is needed is cooperation of the masses and the support of the people. How can we prosper when everyday we send text messages mocking him and even in caricatures we mock him. The Filipino masses is an idiot. A stupid herd that knows nothing other than humiliating his neighbors and fellow Filipino. And even in the street, we cannot prevent the traffic. Or even in falling one line in a ticket booth last Halloween vacation. I think....that we should have never claimed indendependence at all!!! In these times of crisis, our nation appears to the whole world pitiful and this has affected every Filipino working abroad. Our image is shattered because of our lack of discipline and lack of unity. Look at the Japanese. They have prospered despite the destruction of the WW2 to them. Look at us, lots of pioneering companies started here in the Philippines...but surprisingly never prospered into a big one. Listen to our radios, those commentators doing nothing but igniting the fire more. I once work in Taiwan. How different their sorrounding is compared to us. All of them work. All of them are always busy. Nobody is walking around with liquor in his hand.

The fate of the Philippines is in every hands of the Filipino. I say, we allocate one week to clean up the streets, sweep the candy wrappers, light up a candle, to gain national awareness. That we are one people. One nation. We are in the midst of crisis and many people are dying. I do not blame the president. I do not put relevance to this jueting bullshit!! Before we judge another, let us first look at our selves. One little mistake has no right to destroy one nation. Let us stop putting blame. Let us work as one. It's time to be firm in our thoughts. ANd in our deeds, let us show that we care. Let us stop being stupid. For so long, we are. ANd when our childrens are dying, it is time to stop being stupid. No one should judge the President of his intelligence. Even me, I have an IQ of 144...I don't judge him. HOw much more most of you out there who could not even learn simple mathematics or read. It doesn't need high IQ to rule a nation. THe power of a nation is in the people in that nation working together and producing goods esp. in Agriculture in our case. Let us be united.
