 
AF-USA joins SF Bay Area
combined federal campaign
AYALA Foundation USA (AF USA) is now a certified agency of the
United Way of the Bay Area.
Starting July 1, AF-USA has joined the roster of other accredited
non-profit agencies of the United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA)
to facilitate support from the seven-county Bay Area community
for the various social development projects in the Philippines.
Individual and corporate donors from the Bay Area can now
make contributions to AF-USA through UBWA's Community Fund
or Workplace Giving Program.

Young Fil-Ams join immersion
program in the Philippines
MOST of them were born and raised in the United States but
remain Filipinos at heart. Seven young and talented Filipino-Americans
were chosen by the Ayala Foundation USA, LBC Foundation and
Chevron Corporation to participate in a two-month immersion
program in the Philippines under the Filipino-American Youth
Leaders Fellowship Program (FAYLFP).

Unocal supports Laguna water project,
forges partnership with AFUSA and FIDS
THE AYALA Foundation USA (AF USA) recently received an $8,000
grant from the Unocal Foundation to conduct an assessment study
and sustainability planning for the community water system in
Barangay Bitin in Bay, Laguna being supported by Unocal Philippines,
Inc. (UPI).
The Foundation for Integrative and Development Studies (FIDS),
a non-government organization based in the University of the
Philippines, was tapped to implement the assessment project
and develop the sustainability plan.

THE COMBINED Federal Campaign (CFC) recently accredited Ayala
Foundation USA (AF-USA) as one of the charitable institutions
to accept donations from federal employees from the San Francisco
Bay Area. This year's campaign kicked off on September 1 at
the Federal Building in Oakland, with representatives from
the various eligible non-profits agencies. AF-USA manager
Anajay Jayme and former executive director Christina Leaño
actively participated in the event to encourage support for
worthy projects of the AF-USA.

AF-USA donates to DepEd's
'Sagip Eskwela' initiative
The Ayala Foundation USA (AF-USA) recently turned over to
Education Secretary Ramon Bacani a grant of 850,000 pesos
(15,000 US dollars) for the Sagip Eskwela Project of the Department
of Education (DepEd). Through the donation, the AF-USA hopes
to help DepEd rehabilitate the more than a thousand schools
in the regions that were severely hit by the spate of typhoons
late last year. Aside from rebuilding of schools, the grant
will also help repair school furniture, replace textbooks
and other learning materials.
