Carnaval San Francisco (CSF), a project of Mission Neighborhood
Centers, is a celebration of multicultural music, dance and
artistry with an emphasis on showcasing Latin American and
Caribbean culture and the talents of the Mission District
residents. Carnaval San Francisco is already the largest multicultural
festival in California. Through its multi-ethnic charm, it
draws over 250,000 people a year. CSF operates with a part
time staff, independent contractors and upwards of 400 volunteers.
If you want to show your support for Carnaval San Francisco
and your community, now is the time to stand up and be counted.
Being a parade marshall is a fun
ay to see the parade close up and be a part of the magical celebration
of Carnaval. The marshalls will be stationed at every block
of the parade (starts from Bryant and 24th. Street to Mission
and 24th. then to 17th and Mission and ends at 17th. and Harrison).
The first orientation which everyone must attend will be
on May 18:
The duties will be to make sure there are no gaps between
groups and/or floats and to help make the parade flow smoothly.
Those interested may contact Alina Laguna at aglag@aol.com
or + 415 710-4316. The Carnaval Kickoff Party will be held
on May 22 and the parade from May 24-25.
