An Evening of
Classical Music

"AN EVENING of Classical Music" featuring Wilfredo Cariaso Pasamba, cello, will be held on October 4 at the St. Patrick's Church on Mission and 4th Streets in San Francisco. Pieces by J.S. Bach, F. Chopin, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Abelardo, Cenizal and Cassado.

Wilfredo Pasamba, acclaimed Filipino cellist, is a product of two leading schools of music, the Moscow Conservatory and the Julliard School in New York. He has quickly emerged as one of the most outstanding concert artists from the Philippines. Pasamba's most recent awards include top prizes in the Jennings Butterfield Young Artist Competition, the Reno Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Julliard Cello Competition. He was a semifinalist in the 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

Angelita Cariaso Pasamba, pianist, is a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon (International Music Society) and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians in Washington DC. She received her Master's degree in Music Education from Centro Escolar University in Manila and a Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of the Philippines. Ms Pasamba, the mother of Wilfredo, has published numerous arrangements for rondalla, Filipino songs, and music for cello and piano.

This concert will be a fund-raising event as well for "Lingkod Pinoy," a program of the Ayala Foundation-USA, a not-for-profit organization that serves as a bridge for philanthropic giving to the Philippines, through alliances and collaboration with individuals, organizations and communities in the United States. Lingkod Pinoy funds projects such as Habitat for Humanity, The Center for Excellence in Public Elementary Education and SAGIP (Saklolo at Gabay ng Ina at Pamilya/Help and Guidance for Mother and Family).
