100
Years of Filipino Presence
in the Archdiocese of San Francisco

Sept. 12 to 13, 2003

Saint Mary's Cathedral
Gough Street, San Francisco
MONSIGNOR Fred Bitanga, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, is
inviting the Filipino-American community of the archdiocese
of San Francisco to join hands in celebrating 100 years of
presence in the Bay Area.
The archdiocese, which originally encompassed more counties
in the 20th century including Fresno, Monterey and Sacramento,
now included three counties: San Francisco, San Mateo and
Sta. Clara. Monsignor Bitanga, however, is inviting every
Filipino in the original counties to come to St. Patrick's
Church on Sept 12 and 13 to break bread and be as one in honor
of their "journey of faith" to the New World.
On June 15, the Filipino Choir of the archdiocese presented
a musical concert called "Lagi Kitang Naaalala,"
under musical musical director Angie Bacho-Manalili. This
served as the opening program of the 100th anniversary celebration
of Filipino presence in the archdiocese.
