The following is an appeal from Philippine Ambassador to
the US Albert del Rosario:
An Appeal for Continued Support on the April 19th CalPERS
meeting
I humbly write to thank each and everyone of the several
hundred members from our great community who personally joined
me at CalPERS in Sacramento on March 16 to manifest solidarity
in securing just treatment for the Philippines.
The officials of CalPERS themselves have acknowledged that
the 30-day reprieve granted to the Philippines was totally
attributable to the overwhelming power of your presence and
concern. Please know that words cannot express how deeply
moved I was by your being there to assist me in helping the
country.
Truly inspired by your patriotism, we have since then further
sharpened the technical basis to merit having the Philippines
remain on the CalPERS permissible list. If our score is objectively
assessed, our collective mission together with you as a team
will surely be achieved.
On the morning of April 19th, we need an even larger force
in Sacramento to fully convince CalPERS that the Philippines
and the Filipino nation must be treated with respect and fairness.
Please again be with me.
Albert del Rosario
Ambassador
Washington, D.C.
