ISKWELAHANG Pilipino (IP) invites the Filipino-American community
as it celebrates Christmas in America, Filipino Style. "Pasko
sa IP" is slated Dec. 19 at the First Congregational
Church in this city. Filipinos in the Philippines celebrate
the Christmas season way before people in other countries
do. Filipinos in other countries tend to do the same.
IP is a non-profit organization run by volunteers in the
Greater Boston area. It was founded in 1976 by a group of
parents to create an environment where their children will
have the opportunity to learn about their Filipino heritage.
To date, IP is the longest continually running Filipino cultural
school of its kind in the United States. Holding classes throughout
the school year on Sunday afternoons. Parent participation
in school activities is a prerequisite in joining IP.
