CHITO Generoso, coordinator of the Philippine-based Interfaith
Center for a Culture of Nonviolence, will be in the Bay Area
from May 19 to 23. Generoso is a co-founder of PAKAT which
stands for Pangkapayapaang Adhikaing Kusang-dangal Aksyong
Tagapamagitan. They are bringing together Muslims, Christians
and Lumad (indigenous peoples) to seek peaceful solutions
to the conflicts in the war-torn southern island of Mindanao
in the Philippines and protect civilian populations there
from the violence.
Generoso will speak on May 19 and 22 at the events indicated
above, which are open to the public.
The Bay Area events are sponsored by American Friends Service
Committee, Peaceworkers, PAKAT, the Nonviolent Peaceforce,
PUSOD (Center for Culture, Ecology and Bayan) and Mindanao
Crisis Coalition. Refreshments will be served at both events.
