OFEE 16th annual
educators conference
October 22 to 23, 2004
Clarion Hotel
Millbrae, California
THE SAN Francisco-based Organization of Filipino American
Educators and Employees (OFEE) is pleased to announce the
upcoming 16th Annual California Statewide Filipino American
Educators Conference (FAEC) on October 22 and 23, 2004 at
Clarion Hotel, Millbrae, California.
One of the highlights of this year's conference that OFEE
is proud to introduce is the "Parol Making Activity"
to be conducted in conjunction with this year's theme, "Building
Leadership through Collaboration and Partnership." The
conference features Pasko sa Nayon, a taste of Christmas celebrations
in the Philippines.
Together with the team behind the San Francisco Parol Lantern
Festival and Bayanihan Community Center, OFEE will demonstrate
how the "parol making activity" can be integrated
in the school curriculum in California. Using a multi-disciplinary
approach, the "parol" is hands-on material for teaching
Culture, Math, Science, History and Language Arts. Conference
attendees will have this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn
how to make the "parol" and to use it in the classroom
as a tool for teaching.
The annual FAEC promotes leadership strategies for teachers,
administrators and counselors. It also serves as a venue for
training the youth of today to become our future leaders.
This is consistent with the mission of OFEE which is to promote
the professional and cultural development of educators and
community members.
The conference will also offer a Christmas Bazaar featuring
the Best of Filipino Christmas Cuisine and an array of gift
items in time for the Christmas holidays. The Christmas Bazaar
is open to the public.
