Tonight my cousins are coming,
I wish they were here to stay,
But in two weeks time
The plane will take them away.

My cool Ate Mocca could stay with me,
The guest room could hold two or three,
Alabang is where they could be,
Where they’re really going, search me?

We’re having a Christmas party,
A Christmas party indeed,
We’re having a Christmas party,
How many do we have to feed?

We’re shopping here,
We’re eating there,
Where we’re going,
We don’t care!

Steaming Puto Bumbong for Grandpa,
A spicy taco for me,
A nice round bibingka for Grandma
What the rest of them will have,
We’ll see!!!

Will we sleep at 7?
Will we sleep at 8?
Are you crazy?
We’re sleeping really late!

The presents are overflowing!
Help, I can’t see!
Help, I said, the tree is falling!
Will someone help me!?!

I don’t want to ride a jeepney, (PU)
Definitely not some high-tech gizmo, (weird)
We won’t fit in the van, (we’re too many)
Maybe we should get a limo! (cool)

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly,"
Fa la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la,
Look everyone, the holly’s falling!!!

It’s December 24,
Christmas Eve,
We’re looking at the presents
That we will receive!

We need something,
To make time go fast,
So we can open our presents,
Open them at last!!! (finally. . .)

We could play on the piano,
We could splash around in the pool,
We could sing and dance around,
That would be really cool!

Time to open presents,
Goody, yee-hee!
This one’s for you,
This one’s for me!

There’s going to be a big bang to celebrate the,
Second,
Minute,
Hour,
Day,
Week,
Month,
Year,
Decade,
Century,
With the BANG of the Millennium!

Tonight my cousins are leaving, (boo-hoo. . .)
It seems like their stay just began,
I can’t believe they’re going,
When will we see them again?

Nicole, 12, studies at International School Manila. She would like to dedicate this poem to everyone in it.

Abi loves to read and collect children’s books. One of these days, she’d like to go to a far-off place surrounded by water and take care of elephants. She is a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan.
