Creepy Crawlies
By Beatrice Jalbuena and Danica Pascua

Creepy crawlies came from God,
Some come from a pond.
Others even want to hop,
But no matter what they say
they're a gift from above.

Creepy crawlies differ
in shapes and sizes,
From biggest to smallest
from flattest to roundest.
We can definitely say "YES,"
That their structure and
capability is the best!

I think creepy crawlies are nice,
Even if some ask "WHY?"
Some of them are naughty,
They may crawl into your belly.

If you like creepy crawlies,
Tell your best buddy.
If you hate them,
Get used to them or you'll be sorry.

Beatrice and Danica study at the School of the Holy Spirit in Quezon City.

Operations, Computations
By Rizel Lynn T. Magno

In addition, the sum is the answer
It is really easy like scooping water
If you learn this, you'll be loved more by your mother
Getting answers right can make things better.

In subtraction, the difference is the answer
How easy it is, like playing with paper
Your parents' love for you will be greater and greater
Maybe they'll think you're better than Webster.

In multiplication, the product is the answer
If your answers are right, you're a great solver
If you can solve fast, oh, then much better!
No problem, right father?

In division, the quotient is the answer
Sometimes the answer has a remainder
If you can learn this, you can outsmart your brother
Remember always, you are a winner!

Rizel is a sixth-grader at the Placido del Mundo Elementary School.

Christmas Song
By Joseph Nathan Cruz

I waited for Santa under the nipa roof
And listened for sounds of reindeer hoof.
Santa Claus comes to town, they say,
With toys for girls and boys to play.
So I waited from sundown
Till the sun rose at dawn
As the coconut trees
Stretched out and yawned
I waited, but I guess that Santa won't go
To my humble land that has no snow.

School Time
By Vincent Haoson

It's school time again!
We'll meet our friends again,
Our summer, in memories, will remain
It's school time again.

After our long vacation,
we'll meet our beloved friends
now we give our attention,
to our books, studies and good grades.

All the fun memories in the past
will only be our past
The good times of summer vacation,
are safely kept in our imagination.

But now we must concentrate,
on our studies
we must be great!
and make new friends and buddies . . . .
Because it's school time again!

My Classmates in Grade 4
By Patricia Ogbinar

My classmates in Grade 4
Are gifts I can never buy from a store
Here's who they are and what they are like
I'll tell you all about them, I think I might

Here's the most playful and athletic of girls and all
Are you ready? It's Kelly who catches the ball!
Now here's another one, please don't faint
It's Jeffrey! The one who can paint.

Are you ready for school?
I hope you are, because here's the person so far
Sophia is full of ideas,
and you can't fit them all in a jar
Then here's a person who can jump like a bunny
Oh my it's Harrison! He's very funny!

It's time for a contest, she's so competitive
It's Amanda! Is the answer positive or negative?
Now let me see, I know! Somebody who easily learns
Now I remember it's Julian, small as a fern

Wait, don't go! I'm not finished yet
I hope my poem's not a bore, but please don't forget
Be happy and sit down and listen again
But please don't make noise or I'll get insane

Deniz is coming, oh my, she's reading!
Oh no she's walking, she's gonna bump into something.
Remember Kelly? She's athletic!
Now here's a person who knows the metric
A person who's athletic. He's a he.
Say Hi! to Tatsuya who won't get a C.

Next is Hannah, my really good friend
Real friendship she does send
Oh, here's a hard one, it's Tim
He's interested in war it seems

Now here are six more
Andria, Azalea, Isabella,
Esther and Stephanie
Even if I can't describe them
they're good friends, you see
They're as fun as can be

What did you say ?
You're asking about me?
I don't know how to describe myself
do you understand me?
I love to sing, I love to read,
I write poems. Now you describe me.

My poem's almost finished
It's time for me to stop
I hope my poem doesn't go pop
So goodbye and have a nice day,
see you on the way!!

Patricia, 11, is a fifth-grader at St. John's School in Guam.
