I USED to hate cartoons. Whenever I caught my brothers watching cartoons, I would turn the TV off (Hey! That's not nice.--Ed.) and say to them, "Can't you think of anything else to watch?" Of course, they get really angry at me. And they say all I care about is reading my horoscope and watching corny TV dramas.

When my favorite drama show was replaced with the cartoon "Ghost Fighter" I got so, so angry. Imagine! My Tita told me "Ghost Fighter" isn't so bad. In fact, she likes it very much and it is now her favorite show.

That's when I tried watching "Ghost Fighter." I was impressed too! Later on, I got curious about a character named Vincent. I think I was falling in love with this cartoon character. My classmates teased me to no end. I didn't like being teased.

When my favorite teacher heard about my interest in "Ghost Fighter," she couldn't believe I was into cartoons already. She knew I only liked watching dramas.

"Rachel, is it true? You watch cartoons na?" she asked.

I said, "Yes, is there any problem?"

"No," she said and smiled. "I also watch 'Ghost Fighter.' Vincent is also my favorite character."

But she told me it was not such a good idea to be "in love" with a cartoon character.

I said I didn't think so. I had done some research on Vincent's birth date and had done all sorts of experiments comparing our zodiac signs on a love chart. I was in love and that was that.

My teacher just shook her head, "Oh, never mind Rachel."

Well, so much for hating cartoons.
