Ban Kee Trading responds

DEAR Marie,

Thank you for taking time out to write about "some Pokémon Trading Cards being sold at quite high prices." This is one issue that needs to be settled so kids will not be taken by someone who's out to make a quick buck. You may have probably seen cards like Charizard, Blastoise, Venasaur, Chansey, and some more being sold at really quite high prices. The reason is that in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), these cards are considered rare holographic cards and that they are what we consider as collector's items. One good example is the Charizard Trading Card which is so rare that at the average, it comes out only in the base set booster pack once for every 24 booster packs opened. Indeed, vendors should not take advantage of children just because of fads. My advice is that in the Pokémon TCG, you don't really have to buy these cards in order to have a good deck. So what do you do? Trading with your friends is always a welcome idea. And you even get to meet more new friends if you trade with other Pokémon TCG collectors! You can also come up with very competitive decks even without these special holographic cards. How? Watch out for a special article on "Tournament Winning Decks" only here at Junior Inquirer! Please do not hesitate to call us at our Pokémon Hotline at 732-7884 if you have any other questions.--MARKETING DEPARTMENT, Ban Kee Trading Inc.
