The Beach
by Eloise Goco Peña

The beach is a beautiful place to be
Lots of fishes there you will see.
Lots of caves you'd wanna peek
Lots of adventures there you will seek.

Corals, shells, rocks and more
Fishes and eels you'd love to explore.
Lots of things to build with sand
Even with your own hands
There are lots more things to do on the beach.

Eloise is 11 years old.

Spider
by Aileen Contreras

Come little spider,
Come and dance on my hand.
You're the only thing that makes me glad
Especially when I'm alone and sad.

You dance with your eight tiny feet
It is really fun to see you skeet!
Unfortunately, I broke one of your tiny feet
Oh sorry! I didn't mean it.

Poor little fellow died.
It's death made me cry.
Oh how I wish you were still alive
Anyway, you still made me happy in your own little way.

Aileen, 17, studies at Colegio de San Clemente in Angono, Rizal. She likes to draw, paint and read mystery books.

Blue Moon
by Egan Loius J. Fajardo

I sit and watch in the stillness of the night"
I wait for the full moon to show and shine so bright
This is one of those nights that I've been longing for
It already appeared this month but here is an encore.

I can count the few stars scattered up above
There's no need for starry night, it is the moon that I love
I can smell the fragrant flowers as they blossom in the twilight
They are keeping me company as I stare at the moonlight.

I can feel the cool breeze as it touches my skin
It gives me a shivering cold from within
I can hear the soft waves of the low tide sea
They're telling me I'm not alone, they are with me.

But then the thick clouds came and covered the sky
I heaved a sigh and bid the night goodbye
And I just smile even if it is gone
For I know I can see it again in the year 2001.

Max
by Egan Loius J. Fajardo

Once there was a little boy named Max,
He had lots of toys ranging from action figures to computers and a fax.
He lived in a big mansion which resembled a castle deluxe.
He was spoiled, born with a silver spoon, you need not ask.

Their maids were forced to leave their house
Because Max's mean practical jokes, he always does.
Children would also stay away to avoid trouble at the end.
"Who cares?" he said, he had no friends.

But Max didn't know that a fairy named Elmyra was watching.
She was sad and she wanted to stop him from hurting.
So one night, while Max was sleeping,
Elmyra raised her magical wand and magic started appearing.

The magic took effect in Max's dream.
There he woke with a great, big gleam.
"It's another day," he said, "time for another game."
The game was again, to make people look lame.

But as Max opened the door,
An electric shock almost threw him on the floor.
He discovered that a live wire was attached.
"Nice one," he said, "don't worry, I've got more."

Max didn't see a pair of skates as he came down the stairs
So down, down, down, he went and fell with despair.
He got up, not minding the pain.
He ran outside to breathe some fresh air.

Max found his slippers torn to pieces.
As he sat down, a thumbtack inflicted pain.
"This is too much," he said in vain,
He couldn't stop himself so he cried in discomfort.

Max looked at his sides and saw the maids and the children teasing him.
He realized, all the tricks he encountered were his.
He felt the humiliation his victims must have felt,
He knelt and promised to be nice and not to do the tricks again.

Max opened his eyes and realized it was only a dream.
He quickly dislodged all the traps in his sight.
Elmyra was happy for he succeeded,
So she gave him a nice feeling for what he did.

Now, there is a little boy named Max
He have lots of toys ranging from action figures to computers and even a fax
He also have lots of friends and more best friends.
He is not spoiled, their maids enjoyed their work in the end.

Egan studies at the Manila Science High School.
