My Best Friend
by Katrina Haravata

My friend is like a wall to lean on when I'm weak
She makes me happy and glad.
When we have problems we talk
We're always together.

But sometimes, I got so mad and angry,
That what's made me very worried.

Since Grade 2 we've treated each other like sisters
Now, we will graduate from Grade 6
And be best friends forever and ever.

But now she will transfer to another school
I don't know if I will be cool.

And the school year will end again,
We know we will miss each other again and again.

My Inspiration
by Katrina Haravata

Students talking here and there,
Chatting and giggling everywhere!
But every time our teachers walk by
We always greet them "Hi!"

In our classroom we shout and play,
Until our teachers say goodbye.
But do we think what their job is?
To teach and preach that is.

But do I realize how much they mean to me?
They are inspirations, that I see.

Next school year, I will try my best
to be a Good girl.
So my teachers will be proud of me.

Now the school is ending again,
I will miss my teachers again and again.

Katrina, 12, graduated from the Dominican College in San Juan last March.

My Grandparents
by Eloise Goco Peña

Here we are
all gathered on this special day
of the ever dearest couple ever.
They're here for each other
now and forever.
Who am I talking about?
Who else but my dearest grandparents,
"Papalo and Mamala."

My Mamala cooks really well
By just the smell you can tell
On our birthdays we surely get a cake
"Oh my dear Mamala, it's always well baked."

She always tells us, "pray, pray and pray."
"Let's pray the rosary," she would always say.
In Tagaytay, to all the churches we have been
And all the kinds of nuns--
pink, gray whatever we have seen.

Our Papalo, a hardworking fellow
I'm proud to say
He designs bridges, houses, buildings,
LRTs and superhighways too.
The Proconsult president, what more can I say
How I wish I could someday be that too.
He plays golf, he plays tennis
and mah-jongg too.
He's always a champion,
always a champion in our hearts too.

They're great grandparents
I'm sure you all know
A very fine couple always on the go.
Their love for each other they have renewed.
Yes Papalo-Mamala yours was
a match made in heaven.
