Moo-Moo
The Ghost Cow

Written and Illustrated by Andrew Drilon

HI, I’m Moo-moo, I don’t have much to say.
I wanna play with dolls.
I wanna play with clay.
I wanna play with action figures,
that’s what I want the most.
But I can’t play with anything
and that’s 'cause I’m a ghost.

I wanna eat candies, cakes and chocolates too.
But when I go to the candy store,
the candyman shouts, "It’s Moo-moo!"

I wanna sing, I wanna dance.
I wanna play with other cows.
I wanna swing, I wanna glance...
at cats who love to "MEOW!!"

But even if I like it the most,
I still can’t, 'cause I’m a ghost.
When they see me they scream and moo,
they shout, "Moomoo!" and "Oh!" too.

I have no friends, I’m so lonely...

But maybe someone else DOES care for me!

Andrew, 14, studies at the Ateneo de Manila High School.

WHITE LADY
BY JOSHEPH NATHAN CRUZ

''I'm not afraid of the White Lady,''
Little Tim said as they marched in a hurry.
''She's just an old spook who got dumped by her boyfriend, Jumped into the river, then came back from the dead.''

His friends were all shaking when they heard the dogs howl,
So much indeed that Tim had to scowl
As they trekked through the thick and very dark woods.
''I'll show her who's boss in this neighborhood!''

So off went the group in search of the lady
To stop her from haunting their streets and their alleys.
But her fog surrounded them and they heard her laughter--
They stampeded, then, screaming for their mothers!

But Little Tim was brave, Little Tim was tough.
He just wouldn't run and said with a scoff,
''Show yourself, White Lady! Show your monstrous face
And your kooky old dress with tattered lace!''

And she showed herself--such a pretty, young lady
In a marvelous gown designed by Armani.
''You're cute,'' she winked. Wanna go out?''
And Little Tim fled with a terrible shout.

SNAKEMAN
BY JOSHEPH NATHAN CRUZ

The Snakeman wondered,
''And who's dropping by
For dinner this time?''

In the elevator
Was a little girl lost
As it went
Down
Down
Down
Beyond the first floor
Beyond the basement
To the secret room
And opened to the sight of
SNAKEMAN
who slithered on his snake body
SNAKEMAN
who had human arms and head
SNAKEMAN
who liked the mall for its room service.

''You're a pretty little girl,'' Snakeman hissed.
''Thanks,'' said the girl.
Can I have you for dinner?
''Sure.''

So he escorted her to the table
And they dined on roast chicken.

FULL MOON
BY JOSHEPH NATHAN CRUZ

See the great buko pie
in the sky shining in the dark.
I want to eat it on
on my birthday,
but I am not yet strong enough
to the battle the Great Snake
that takes a bite every night.
See the great buko pie
in the sky getting
smaller and smaller and smaller
until there is NOTHING.

Someday I will take it from him,
but for now,
I will stay by my window,
staring at the buko pie
in the sky.
I will not go out.
The Great Snake is out there.
The Great Snake is hungry.
