Rain Songs
On the roof,
the raindrops tap a beat.
Dit-dit-dit ta-dit.
The wind whistles a tune
down the street
while on the roof,
the raindrops tap
a beat.
Dit-dit-dit ta-dit.
The flowers are wet.
The trees are wet.
The houses are wet.
The rooftops are wet.
The streets are wet.
The clouds sing,
and the whole world
is wet.
Dit-dit-dit ta-dit.
Daddy's Table
When it rains,
Daddy's table is my house
where I can forget all
about lightning and thunder.
When it rains,
Daddy's table is a dark cave
that keeps me safe
from the scary monster outside.
When it rains,
Daddy's table is my castle
filled with pretty little things
fit for a princess.
When it rains,
under Daddy's table
is where I love to read my book
and dream.
Frog Chorus
One frog was bored
and so he started to sing.
The others were just as bored
so they thought they might
also do their own thing.
Before they knew it,
a session was in full swing-
all the frogs were singing,
but, alas (except for them, perhaps),
their tune was sadly boring.
And this is the story behind
the monotonous ruckus
that came to be known as
the frog chorus.
Tadpole Parade
When it rains,
there is a strange ceremony
I have observed;
the tiny participants celebrate it
with the utmost solemnity
as they come out
one by one in the stream.
One darts out, and then another.
After a while, there come out
still several others.
Down the stream, then up
again, go the very solemn tadpoles
in the Tadpole Parade
when it rains.
If I Were A Cloud. . .
I would let the wind blow me
and race with your kite.
I would watch you while you sunbathe
and see you get just enough sunlight.
I would blow you kisses in the wind when you cry,
to make everything all right.
And when the world is ready to sleep,
I would be bed for little stars
and remember to bid you
in a whisper," Good night."
