Prices of building materials drop 0.2% - NSO
PRICES OF CONSTRUCTION MA-terials dropped by 0.2 percent in October from that in September despite the damage on infrastructure from recent typhoons.
Data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) also show that the decline in the construction materials wholesale price index (CMWPI) for the National Capital Region was due to falling prices of fuels, lubricants, and steel.
October prices of fuels and lubricants fell by 1.3 percent compared to their September levels, while structural steel slid by 0.7 percent.
Prices of cement and wood products in October also declined by 0.1 percent 0.7 percent, respectively, from the flat growth posted the previous month.
The NSO said prices for the rest of the commodity groups generally remained stable.
On a yearly basis, the CMWPI fell for the fourth straight month by 2.2 percent, although this was slower than the 3.5 percent posted in September.
