JOKO Diaz exploded a bombshell at last Sundays "S-Files" when he revealed that he and Angelu de Leon had ended their affair, and that chances of reconciliation were dim. The revelation added spark and heat to the show biz programs anniversary telecast, which faced serious competition for top viewership figures from the new show, "The Buzz," on Channel 2. The last straw, said Joko, was the fact that Angelu had revived her acting career despite his stated preference for her to concentrate on being spouse and mother. The end of the controversial Joko-Angelu romance has added interest value to Angelus comeback bid, particularly since her new movie, "Bulaklak ng Maynila," requires her to come up with her first "young adult" performance. Her stormy private life has made Angelu come across as a "more experienced" young woman, an image that should make Angelus comeback role fit her like a glove. As for Joko, we hope that he will soon be able to resume his career as a young action star. Another thought: he was so quietly emotional when he made his revelation on TV last Sunday that some directors could look at him in a new lightas a young dramatic lead. If Angelu can have a new image, why cant he? Focus on May Lee
On CNN International, May Lee anchors the newscasts "Asia Tonight" and "Asian Edition" Mondays through Fridays, and hosts the weekly newsmagazine, "Inside Asia" on weekends. Lee was formerly a CNN correspondent based in Tokyo, where she covered political, cultural and economic news. Within the first hour of her new assignment, she was immediately put in harness, contributing live reports on the devastating earthquake in Kobe that killed more than 5,000 people. Later, Lee again took CNN viewers to Kobe, doing a series of reports on the reconstruction of the citys infrastructure and economy. Lee also worked as CNNs lead reporter on the March 1995 deadly sarin attack on Tokyos subway system, following the story closely, up to the subsequent investigation and arrests. She was the first reporter for a non-Japanese news organization to report the gas attack, and the first to report the arrest of the leader of the group linked to the deadly crime. Prior to joining CNN, Lee worked with Japans NHK network, where she reported daily for "Japan Business Today and co-anchored "Japan Business Weekly." Even earlier, Lee worked as field producer, reporter and anchor for the daily newscast on WKEF-TV in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, USA. Lee received her bachelor of arts degree in communications from Mills College in 1998. She speaks English, Korean and Japanese. When she isnt working, she enjoys playing the piano and the cello, as well as golfing and mountain biking. On her wedding days, she doesnt show up at the church, and he is devastated. But his misery ends when they are reunited in the afterlife.
