MANILA -- Several relatives of the victims who perished in the Glorietta 2 blast gathered on Sunday to mark the first death anniversary of their loved ones.

The bereaved, who were joined by members of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, lit 11 candles representing those who died, and offered prayers around 10 a.m. at the site where over a hundred were also injured.

VACC's Dante Jimenez said on Sunday their group would continue to lend paralegal assistance to victims' families regardless of whether they accepted financial assistance or signed waivers.

The Philippine National Police, which conducted the probe on the explosion, said the blast was caused by leaking methane and diesel vapors in the mall's basement and not a terrorist bomb attack.

Eight persons, including the project engineer of Makati Supermarket Corp., have been ordered charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide by the Department of Justice but the case has yet to reach the trial courts.
