Roxas to join Cebu City’s June 12 rites
SEN. Mar Roxas will grace Cebu City's Independence Day celebration today at the Plaza Sugbo, City Hall grounds, in front of the Cebu City's Legislative building.
He will join Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Vice Mayor Michael Rama and city councilors, during the flag raising ceremony at 8:30 a.m.
The celebration of the Cebu City government to commemorate 111th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence will start with a Holy Mass at 7:30 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Bryan Brigoli.
As a symbol of peace, doves will be released by city hall officials after the Independence Day Message by the mayor.
Osmeña, a close family friend of the senator’s family, has endorsed Roxas for president in 2010.
But he said he would not make any public announcement supporting Roxas’s bid during the Independence Day Celebration because it would be “a very inappropriate thing to do.” /Correspondents Rizel Adlawan and Chris Ligan
