A BATCH of seven overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Lebanon are scheduled to arrive on Monday, bringing to 6,287 the total number of Filipinos repatriated since fighting broke out between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants in July, Foreign Affairs spokesman Eduardo Malaya said Friday.

Malaya said the OFWs are expected to arrive at 2:05 p.m. Monday, October 16, onboard Etihad flight number EY 427 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He said the returning OFWs are sponsored by the International Organization for Migration.

Asked why the Philippines continues to repatriate citizens from Lebanon despite a UN-brokered ceasefire that took effect about a month after the fighting broke out, Malaya said he believed the Filipino repatriates are displaced persons.
