WE spent the morning in the home of Menchu Tantoco Lopez and admired her sense of style. Her home is truly a marriage of her personal style and the awesome movie memorabilia collection of her husband, Jun. Her chosen Christmas décor are artistic arrangements created by stylists at the Rustan’s flower shop which she manages. Angels are the predominant theme, and this year she chose royal blue and gold as her colors.

We begin with the Christmas tree which is fully decorated with ornaments both new and old. Menchu’s ornaments are a combination of new merchandise, which she herself buys for the flower shop, combined with older items she has accumulated through the years. Each is perfectly placed and creates a huge impact as you enter her living room.

The stairs are draped with a beautiful garland and on the bottom is a beautiful Nativity scene that Menchu has had since her children were small.

Her Christmas table is a beautiful setting of Cartier china and crystal glassware. According to Menchu, she has different sets depending on the theme of her dinner party, the most notable of which is her Moroccan setting when she serves Moroccan food. When her menu is Filipino food, she uses piña and mother-of-pearl in her settings.

Lastly, the Infant Jesus is in his place of honor at Menchu’s home. She explains that the statue of the Infant Jesus has been with her as far back as she can remember. But every year, a new home is created for him in the Lopez household.
