Award-winning Sinulog choreographer cited
A DIRECTOR and choreographer of the Sinanduloy Dance Troupe of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental was commended by the Mandaue City Council for bringing honor and prestige to the city.
Emelio “Jojin” S. Pascual was given the commendation for bringing the Sinanduloy Dance Troupe to six championship titles in the Sinulog based category in the annual Sinulog festivals in Cebu City.
Pascual, a Mandauehanon, was also awarded Best Choreographer in the Sinulog based category six times.
He is currently chairman of the History Department of the University of San Carlos.
The Tangub City Council also issued a resolution expressing their gratitude and appreciation to Pascual for the services he extended as a choreographer and director of the Sinanduloy Dance Troupe.
During the Sinulog festival last Jan. 18, the Sinanduloy team garnered the following awards: Grand prize winner (Sinulog based category), Best in Street Dancing, Sinulog Festival Queen 2009 won by Irish Mae Linganay, the lead dancer of the troupe.
