Glorietta blast victims’ kin seek upgrade of charges

MANILA, Philippines – The families of those who died in the Glorietta 2 explosion on Oct. 19, 2007, asked the Department of Justice Monday to hold officials of the Ayala firm running the mall and Makati firefighters criminally liable for the incident.

MANILA, Philippines -- The Department of Interior and Local Government's (DILG) Inter-Agency Task Forced asked the Department of Justice (DoJ) to include officers of Ayala Property Management Incorporated (APMI) and the Makati fire bureau among those charged for last year’s deadly explosion at the Glorietta 2 mall.

MANILA, Philippines—No officer of the Ayala firm that runs the Glorietta 2 mall in Makati City will be held criminally liable for the explosion on Oct. 19, 2007, that killed 11 people. But the Department of Justice threw out the Ayala theory that a bomb attack had caused the blast.

MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed criminal charges against eight persons, including the project engineer of Makati Supermarket Corp.(MSC), for the October 19, 2007 explosion at the Glorietta 2 mall in Makati City that left 11 people dead and 108 others injured.
