MANILA, Philippines – A senior student of the University of the Philippines (UP) is asking a Quezon City court to prevent the university Student Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) from ruling on the alleged death by hazing last year of Cris Anthony Mendez.

A Quezon City court yesterday denied the petition for the issuance of a temporary restraining order filed by a graduating law student and Sigma Rho fraternity member, allowing administrative proceedings against him to proceed in connection with the death of alleged hazing victim Cris Anthony Mendez.

MANILA, Philippines – The family of suspected hazing victim Cris Anthony Mendez has filed a civil case against Dr. Francisco Cruz who brought the 21-year-old University of the Philippines student to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center last August where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
