Side of Philcomsat’s Bildner on CA resolution
MANILA, Philippines - Contrary to the news article that quoted a statement made by Rene Saguisag, legal counsel of PCGG nominee Enrique Locsin, (Inquirer, 10/20/07), we would like to clarify that the resolution of Court of Appeals Associate Justice Martin S. Villarama Jr. did not mention any “Locsin-Poblador Group”; neither did it uphold the dismissal of the Philcomsat case, based on lack of jurisdiction, by the RTC Makati.
The Court of Appeals resolution in CA GR CV No. 88360, penned by Justice Villarama and promulgated on June 8, 2007, merely dismissed the appeal, filed by one of our principals, on a procedural issue, based on a withdrawal of appeal. The case related to a 1998 Special Stockholders’ Meeting of Philcomsat, the validity of which was assailed by our shareholders.
As Philcomsat subsequently held another special stockholders’ meeting in September 2000, the case was rendered moot and academic, hence the request for its withdrawal.

The article in question was based on a press statement released by a group in Philcomsat which named itself the “Locsin-Poblador Group.” I have subsequently interviewed Ms Bildner, and her side has been written in an article that has been submitted for publication.
