MANILA, Philippines — Angela Benting, Pau Soriano and Jill Gustilo found their groove and powered Adamson past University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-22, 25-15, Friday in the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 second conference at Ateneo’s Blue Eagle gym in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

The Lady Falcons, drawing a combined 33 points from the attacking trio, secured their second straight win after dropping their opening match to the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses last Sunday.

In the second game, defending champion Santo Tomas tightened its hold of first place with a clinical 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Lyceum.

The Tigresses flaunted a near-seamless form in the match that lasted one hour and nine minutes, hammering the Lady Pirates no end on the way to their third straight victory.

The Lady Pirates dropped to 0-2.

“They’re starting to jell and play with a lot of discipline,” said Adamson coach Dulce Pante, who rested some of her key players in the third set with the outcome already settled.

Adamson also drew a solid outing from guest player Charmaine Moralde, who finished with nine points, including three service aces.

Cathy Barcelona had 10 points for the Lady Maroons, who committed 26 errors and absorbed their third straight loss and their 10th in a row since joining the league in the first conference.

The Lady Falcons will try to ride the momentum of their twin victories this week when they clash with the dangerous Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on Sunday.
