Ateneo de Manila captured its fourth straight national Small Basketeers Philippines division championship, while home team Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu also grabbed its first Passerelle crown in the national finals of the Milo Best SBP/Passerelle Twin Tournaments recently at the University of San Carlos Gym in Cebu City.
The Blue Eaglets relied on Jolo Mendoza anew as they blasted fellow Jesuit school Ateneo de Davao University, 61-51, in the championship game.
Mendoza took charge for the Eaglets by drilling all of his 10 points in a 10-2 run at the start of the fourth period.
The Passerelle division finals also featured two Jesuit-run schools as Sacred Heart rolled past Xavier School, 102-53, to bag its first national title.
The Magis Eagles cruised to a 32-20 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back.
Claret School of Zamboanga, meanwhile, tripped International School for Better Beginnings, 71-66, in overtime in the battle for third place.
