Returning Sacha Feliciano, Carl Pollington and Matthew Chan carried the cudgels for Fern-C Racing as the team dominated the kickoff leg of the 2011 Petron Karting Super Series at the Carmona Circuit Philippines in Carmona, Cavite, recently.
Feliciano and Pollington swept their respective classes while Chan bagged the runner-up trophy in the ROK Novice class.
Feliciano, who posted the fastest time of 49.386, led from start to finish to clock 16 minutes and 32.639 seconds and claim the Formula SL Novice crown.
Hardly showing rust after being sidelined by a dislocated arm injury last October, Feliciano also upstaged the Expert karters in the 20-lap combined race.
Pollington pulled ahead early, finishing the race in 12:35.232 or 49 seconds clear of his closest pursuer.
Chan, in only on his first official ROK Novice race in the national series, checked in ahead of his more experienced ROK senior and junior rivals in clinching the runner-up trophy.
Also delivering podium honors for Fern-C Racing were ROK Junior fourth placer Vrei-Ar Suba and Formula SL Novice fifth placer Aira Medrano.
Misfortunes, however, hounded the Fern-C top guns.
VJ and Vrei-Ar Suba, as well as Estefano Rivera, were doing great in the qualifying heat until Rivera figured in a collision with a stalled Juha Turalba in the Pre-Final.
The collision sent Rivera airborne and then landing on VJ Suba and Vrei-Ar, who managed to get back into the race.
