La Salle-Dasmariñas turned to Michael Gonzales and Alnakran Abdilla to trip Philippine Merchant Marine School, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15, 25-19, yesterday and complete a sweep of the 18th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) men’s volleyball elimination round at the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite gymnasium in Dasmariñas.
Attacks by Abdilla and Gonzales in the final set broke an 18-all deadlock and enabled the Fidel Rojales-coached Patriots to earn an automatic seat to the finals with their 10th straight win in the tournament.
The Mariners, who finished with a 9-1 slate, joined the Patts Sea Horses and the Rizal Technological U Blue Thunder in the stepladder semifinals.
The Blue Thunder prevailed over the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 25-11, 25-18, 25-15, while the Sea Horses turned back the EAC-Cavite Vanguards, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.
