MANILA---Heavily recruited high school star Kevin Ferrer finally quelled speculations as to where he is headed in college.

Ferrer, the UAAP Season 73 junior's MVP who spearheaded the UST Tiger Cubs to a finals appearance, will suit up for his alma mater after all.

"Nakatulong sakin yung loyalty," said Ferrer. "And dito (UST) na ako sumikat, ipagpapatuloy ko lang."

The six-foot-four forward initially hinted at playing for Ateneo and kept his options open.

But after talking to his parents and the UST management, in the end, Ferrer chose to stay.

National University also took a shot in recruiting Ferrer but he said "hindi ako nasilaw sa offer."

And though he has yet to complete his requirements with UST, the wiry swingman has been playing with the Growling Tigers, who is currently competing in the Millennium Basketball League (MBL).

"Ready ako na maglaro kahit anong posisyon kung anong kinakailangan ng team, I'll give my best," he added.

Ferrer also shared that with rival Kiefer Ravena opting to stay with Ateneo, it served as a challenge to play against him in the next level in the next season.

With Ravena added into the already loaded Blue Eagle roster, Ferrer would have to fight for significant playing time unlike the major role he'll be having with the Growling Tigers.

The next UAAP Season is still months away but Ferrer will already get his hands full as the Filoil Preseason tournament opens this April. UST will be competing in the tournament after taking a break last season.

Usually reserved and more of the shy type, the former National youth team mainstay though made a bold statement.

"Gagawin ko lahat, para maangat ang UST at mabalik sa Final Four," Ferrer finished.
