The Airasia-Philippine Patriots yesterday again took the risk of playing without one import in their next game when it sacked Donald Little, who underperformed in the Patriots’ 81-96 loss to the Westports KL Dragons last Sunday.
Team manager Erick Arejola said the team is looking for a young and dependable center to replace Little, who played as lone Patriots import early in the series with Anthony Johnson sidelined by an injury.
The Patriots will play with only one import in Rasheim Wright, Johnson’s replacement, when they face Satria Muda BritAma in Jakarta on Saturday.
Sources said Little had an attitude problem and even engaged teammates to unnecessary shoving matches during practices.
The 6-foot-10 Little had just six points in the first half, showing little energy as he gave up several rebounds, before finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes against the Dragons.
The loss dropped the Patriots, co-owned by Mikee Romero and Tonyboy Cojuangco, to second place with six wins and three losses.
The Patriots have lost three of their last four games.
Meanwhile, the Dragons have been fined $5,000 after one of their fans threw a bottle at Patriots player Warren Ybanez during Sunday’s game.
