A total of 109 state universities and colleges from 16 regions will see action in the 2011 SCUAA National Olympics which gets underway today at the Melanio Sports Complex in Ilagan, Isabela.
More than 5,000 athletes and officials are represented in 14 events in the week-long event organized by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (Pasuc). Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy III formally welcomed the participants yesterday.
Championships will be contested in athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball chess, dancesports, football, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and volleyball.
