MANILA---San Sebastian's bid to end a string of runner-up finishes starts today in Group A action, even as Adamson and Perpetual Help dispute the solo lead in Group B of the Shakey.s V-League.

The Lady Stags, the bridesmaids in three of the last four conferences, return with a powerhouse cast led by Suzanne Roces against Cebu.s Southwestern University at 4 p.m. at the  FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Adamson and Perpetual Help, both triumphant in their opening games, go for back-to-back wins at 2 p.m.

Roces, a former league MVP, teams up anew with Joy Benito, Elaine Cruz, Bonsai Mirasol, Bamcie Belen and libero Mae Crisostomo for the Lady Stags, who bowed to the Lady Falcons in last conference.s finals.

Princess Pido fired 20 points, including 15 kills, and Danika Gendrauli had 19 for the Lady Cobras, the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) champion.

.We needed the win since another loss would dash our hopes,.  said Paca.
