The ’80s are back, and this time our favorite fashion trends from the decade—bold colors, cool metallics, the punk look and attitude—find their way into swimwear.

To be You teams up with Forever 21 to bring you a beach-ready collection that pays homage to that unforgettable era.

Technicolor dream

Channel ’80s cartoon cutie pie Rainbow Brite in a one-piece swimsuit with colors that emphasize a deep tan.

Keep shining

Metallics may have been all the rage back in the day, but the trend has since toned down. Sport a purple lamé one-piece swimsuit with a pair of vintage short shorts. Finish the look with the ultimate ’80s accessory: oversized earrings.

I want my MTV

Before YouTube, Spotify and Soundcloud, there was 24-hour music channel MTV. While MTV has since had its heyday, its iconic logo lives forever on a cropped top.

Punk in pink

Also big in the ’80s were pastels, a palette associated with the girl next door. Update the look by using a soft dress shirt as cover-up. Roll up the sleeves for that full ’80s punk effect.
