A 28-year-old man died Saturday night, Aug. 8, reportedly electrocuted while walking along a flooded street in Lipa City, Batangas.

The first alarm is still raised over the water level of the Marikina River on Sunday morning due to the continuous heavy rains.

The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to persist over Luzon, with a red rainfall alert issued over Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

At least seven people have died in drowning and landslide incidents as persistent rains brought by the “habagat” in Luzon.

A bird’s-eye view taken on Aug. 8 shows the extent of the landslide that struck Barangay Shilan in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Loosening soil and falling rocks along a mountainside prompted a road warning in San Marcelino town in Zambales on Saturday (Aug. 8).

The water level beneath Sta. Rita Bridge in this city reached the critical level on Aug. 8 as rains brought by “habagat.”

Floodwaters rose to about two feet in Barangay Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet on Aug. 8 as heavy rains continued to affect the municipality.
