Isprikitik Improv is the freshest musical improv group in Metro Manila, Philippines.
The group is a strong ensemble of Filipino musicians, actors, singers, and composers, who were crazy enough to take the risk and say yes to the world of improv. They met each other through different productions of PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association) as most of the group is composed of PETA members and guest artists. Members are Norbs Portales, John Moran, Bene Manaois, Ada Tayao, Paeng Sudayan, Zoe Damag, Kaan Bautista, Jasper Jimenez, Gab Pangilinan, and Yesh Burce.
Isprikitik started out as PETA’s entry to the 2017 Manila Improv Festival (MIF) held at the PETA Theater Center last year. After their stint at the MIF, the group fell in love with the improv community since they received an overwhelming amount of support from the other groups at the festival. This inspired the group to pursue Isprikitik full time.
Since then, they have had gigs in cafes and restos around the metro. Their biggest break to date is being part of Jon Santos’ series of shows at Resorts World Manila. The first one, Live Laugh Love (With guest: Kakai Bautista), and the second one, Laugh Wins (With guest: Mitch Valdez).
After a crazy good year, they are now ready to celebrate with their anniversary show entitled: “Da Big 1: A Birthday Party!”. Celebrating their first birthday with them are special guests Juan Miguel Severo of Words Anonymous, and Mara Andres for Daloy Dance Company.
More than being just about improv, “Da Big 1: A Birthday Party!” is an art happening celebrating improv, spoken word, and dance and contact improv.
Come for a night of laughter, music, rhythm, movement, poetry, friendship, food, booze, and so much more!
