Palace changes story: Only 1 soldier injured in Ayungin

Only one soldier was injured in the most recent bout with China in Ayungin Shoal, said Presidential Assistant on Maritime Concerns. Ret. Gen. Andres Centino on Friday.

MANILA, Philippines — Only one soldier was injured in the most recent bout with China in Ayungin Shoal, said Presidential Assistant on Maritime Concerns. Ret. Gen. Andres Centino on Friday.

This contradicted earlier reports confirmed by the military that there were eight injured soldiers.

“To be accurate with the the status of our soldiers there was only one that got injured, as early reported there were like seven, actually it was only one, Sergeant [Jeffrey] Facundo of the Philippine Navy,” said Centino.
