First day of filing of COCs for 2025 polls successful – Comelec
MANILA, Philippines — The first day of the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections was successful, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia declared on Tuesday.
“So far, sa buong bansa po, para sa inyong kaalaman, sa monitoring po ng aming operation center na nandyan, sa may office ng Comelec, wala kahit isa na untoward incident o pangyayari ang nag-disturb ng filing ng certificate of candidacy,” said Garcia in a press conference at the Manila Hotel Tent.
(So far, in the whole country, for your information, based on the monitoring of our operation center in the Comelec office, there was no untoward incident that disrupted the filing of certificate of candidacy.)
“Lumalabas po base sa ating initial assessment ay napakamatagumpay yung naging unang araw ng filing of certificate of candidacy,” Garcia added.

Article continues after this advertisement“Yung sa labas ay maaaring hindi niyo nasaksihan lahat. Madami pong yung mga nagsama ng mga supporters yung mga nag-file na aspirants sa labas at napanatili nila na matiwasay yan,” said Garcia.

The filing of COC for the 2025 national and local elections will be from October 1-8, 2024.
Batanes extension
Meanwhile, Garcia said that they extended the voter registration period in Batanes on Tuesday, in time with the first day of COC filing.
Garcia said on Monday that the last day of voter registration in the province was disrupted by inclement weather brought by Super Typhoon Julian.
