MANILA, Philippines — The second day of filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections begins early Wednesday morning.

On the ground, the situation is no different from the first day of the week-long activity, apart from the generally fair weather that greeted political aspirants and their supporters on the second day.

As early as 7 a.m., supporters of some aspiring candidates, particularly Sen. Imee Marcos, were already grouping themselves outside the Manila Hotel.

In a press conference on Tuesday evening, Garcia said Comelec’s assessment showed that the first day of COC filing was successful.

He hoped that the succeeding seven days would also be the same.

“So far sa buong bansa po, para sa inyong kaalaman, sa monitoring po ng aming operations center na nandyan sa may office ng Comelec [ay] wala pong kahit isa na untoward incident o pangyayari na na-disturb ‘yung filing ng ating candidacy,” said Garcia.

(So far, in the whole country, for your information, based on the monitoring of our operations center there in the Comelec office, there’s no any untoward incident recorded that disturbed the filing of candidacy.)

The COC filing will run until October 8, 2024.
