Trillanes files COC to run for Caloocan mayor

MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV formalized his bid for the Caloocan mayoralty post after he filed his certificate of candidacy on Thursday morning.

“Bilang tubong Brgy. 169 ng Caloocan, layun ko na maiahon mula sa kahirapan ang aking mga kababayan at ayusin ang samu’t saring problema ng aming lungsod,” Trillanes said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Ngayong araw na ito, ako po ay nag-file ng COC sa pagka-Mayor ng Caloocan City. Bilang tubong Brgy 169 ng Caloocan, layun ko na maiahon mula sa kahirapan ang aking mga kababayan at ayusin ang samu’t saring problema ng aming lungsod. In his return to politics after his term as senator ended in 2019, Trillanes is seeking to unseat incumbent Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan, whose father had held the office for nine years before he sought it for himself in 2022.

“The next several months will be quite intense as we try to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty that’s determined to hold on to Caloocan,” Trillanes said.

Trillanes took an oath last July as a member of the Aksyon Demokratiko political party.
