Former defense chief Lorenzana files COC for senator
MANILA, Philippines —Former defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Monday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator at the Manila Hotel Tent City.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), however, said a representative filed his certificate of candidacy on his behalf.
Lorenzana did not face the media and his Senate bid was only made known when the Comelec released the list of COC filers on Monday afternoon.
Last month, Lorenzana stepped down as the chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, which is mandated to help strengthen the military to develop its former bases and properties into economic centers and communities.
Before his BCDA post, Lorenzana served as the Department of National Defense secretary during the Duterte administration from 2016 to 2022.
