Dasmariñas Mayor Barzaga eyes new term
MANILA, Philippines – Jenny Austria-Barzaga, who has been Dasmariñas City mayor for 14 years, formalized her candidacy for another term on Tuesday.
Her son, Third, is entering politics by running alongside her as vice mayor. He graduated with a political science degree in 2022.
Her eldest, Kiko, is gunning for a seat in Congress, representing Cavite’s 4th congressional district, the same seat that his mother and father Elpidio Barzaga Jr. once held. He is currently a city councilor.
Barzaga first sat as mayor in 2007, serving three terms before her brief stint in the House of Representatives then returned to the mayoralty in 2019.

Article continues after this advertisementHer husband was Cavite’s 4th district representative for a total of five terms until his passing last April 27.
He was also a four-time Dasmariñas City mayor and president of the National Unity Party.
