Comelec aims to have final list of election bets by December 13

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is aiming to have a final list of candidates for the local and national government posts by December 13, its chief George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday.

Garcia said the Comelec is now reviewing the list of aspirants for local and national posts to remove the nuisance candidates.

“All of them (nuisance candidates) will be cleared out until the end of November, and hopefully we should have the final list before December 13,” Garcia said in a radio dwPM interview.

After producing the final list of candidates, the Comelec will commence the printing of ballots.

On Thursday, Comelec began receiving the submission of certificates of candidacy and other election documents from their field offices and is aiming to finish its review on Oct. 17.

The Comelec has received a total of 44,801 COCs of local and national aspirants from Oct. 1 to 8.

The midterm polls will be held on May 12, 2025.
