LIST: What's Bam Aquino's stance?

MANILA, Philippines — Bam Aquino is seeking a Senate comeback. As he propels himself for the 2025 elections, Aquino bared his stance on several pressing issues.

In an exclusive interview with Inquirer’s INQSide Look on Tuesday, Aquino was presented with some of the nation’s top concerns.

Below are matters that he is voting in favor of:

FEATURED STORIES
  • PUV Modernization (He emphasized that it needs to be humane)
  • Minimum wage hike
  • Sogie Equality Bill  (with reservations)
  • Pogo ban
  • Divorce (with reservations)
  • Candidates with pending cases running for government post
  • Current implementation of war against drugs

Meanwhile, Aquino said he is against the following:

  • Political dynasty
  • Charter change
  • Removal of term limits (but okay with extending the term limits of local governments from three to five years)
  • Mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps
  • Death penalty

Aquino, however, failed to provide a categorical stance on the following:

  • Legalization of medical marijuana (Initially against, but he said it needs to be studied more)
  • Expanding access of US to military bases  (with many reservations)

Aquino formalized his bid to return to the Senate on October 7. He is running as an independent candidate.

The 47-year-old senatorial aspirant served as a lawmaker in the upper chamber from 2013 to 2019.  He lost his reelection bid in 2019.
